Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Citadines Kléber Strasbourg? The location is absolutely perfect, but not in that generic “convenient location” way everyone talks about. I mean, you’re literally tucked away on Rue du Jeu des Enfants – which translates to “Children’s Game Street” if you’re curious – and it’s this wonderfully quiet little side street that somehow puts you within a three-minute walk of Place Kléber. That’s Strasbourg’s main square, by the way, where all the Christmas market action happens (trust me, book way ahead if you’re coming in December).

The building itself has that classic Alsatian charm you’d expect, though it’s been modernized in all the right ways. Check-in was honestly smoother than I anticipated for a 3-star place – the front desk staff actually knew the neighborhood well enough to give me real restaurant recommendations, not just the touristy spots. The rooms are what I’d call “efficiently designed” rather than spacious, but there’s something refreshing about a hotel that doesn’t try to be more than it is. My room faced the interior courtyard, which meant blissfully quiet nights even though we’re basically in the city center. The kitchenette situation is actually useful here – there’s a Monoprix just around the corner on Rue des Grandes Arcades where you can grab decent groceries, and honestly, sometimes you just want to make coffee at your own pace in the morning.

What really won me over was how the place handles the practical stuff that can make or break a stay. The Wi-Fi actually works throughout the building (I tested it in the lobby, my room, even the hallways because I’m neurotic like that). Parking is tricky in this part of Strasbourg – the hotel doesn’t have its own garage, but they’ll point you toward the Kléber parking structure about two blocks away. It’s not cheap (welcome to European city centers), but at least you’re not circling the block for twenty minutes looking for street parking. The 8.2 rating makes sense to me because this isn’t a place trying to wow you with fancy amenities – it’s just doing the fundamentals really well. The beds are comfortable, the shower pressure is solid, and the whole place feels clean and well-maintained without being sterile. Plus, and this matters more than people realize, you can walk to both the cathedral and Petite France without breaking a sweat, which means you’re seeing the best of Strasbourg without dealing with trams or taxis. If you’re the type who values being in the thick of things but still wants to retreat somewhere quiet at the end of the day, this place hits that sweet spot perfectly.

location was fantastic. it is very close to Kleber square, Katedhral and nice restaurants and pubs. you can park your car to hotel's limited parking area or Kleber Square Parking area. Reception was friendly and helpful.

What could be improved: we stayed 3 nights with no room-cleaning service. we survived anyway but it was interesting.

Good location, near the train station, and also in the main part of town. Free coffee downstairs.
Also, had construction on the street right outside, but was soundproof that you couldn't hear it.

What could be improved: Some re-usable cups for the free coffee rather than disposable cups would have been even better.
