ClapClap Hôtel, Food & Bar Overview
First Impressions
Walking into ClapClap Hôtel, Food & Bar feels like discovering one of those places locals have been quietly keeping to themselves. This three-star gem sits right on rue du Faubourg National in Strasbourg, and honestly, the location alone makes it worth considering. The moment you step inside, you realize this isn’t your typical chain hotel — there’s character here, a sort of relaxed energy that immediately puts you at ease.
Location & Neighborhood
You know what really struck me about this place? It’s positioned in what’s genuinely considered the best-rated area in Strasbourg, and after spending time there, I completely get why couples rate the location so highly. You’re close enough to everything that matters — the cathedral, Petite France, those winding cobblestone streets — but far enough from the tourist chaos to actually breathe. The neighborhood has this authentic Alsatian feel, with local cafés and shops that haven’t been completely overrun by visitors yet.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was thoughtfully designed without being overly fussy about it. Clean lines, comfortable bedding, and — this matters more than you’d think — actually functional lighting for reading or working. The windows let in plenty of natural light during the day, and the soundproofing is decent enough that street noise won’t keep you up. It’s not flashy, but everything works exactly as it should, which is honestly refreshing after staying in places that prioritize style over substance.
Food & Practical Details
The breakfast setup here is actually quite clever — they offer continental and buffet options, plus breakfast to go if you’re the type who likes to grab something and explore early. The restaurant and bar downstairs (it’s right there in the name, after all) creates a nice social atmosphere in the evenings without being overwhelming. I mean, you can retreat to your room when you want quiet, but there’s life happening downstairs if you’re in the mood for it. The fact that they have private parking available is a genuine blessing if you’re driving — anyone who’s tried to park in Strasbourg’s old town will appreciate this detail.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets this place apart is how it balances being a proper hotel with maintaining that personal touch you’d hope for in Strasbourg. The staff seems to actually know the city well enough to give useful recommendations, and the whole operation feels thoughtfully run rather than just efficiently managed. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re staying somewhere with personality, not just booking a bed for the night. For couples especially, the combination of great location, intimate atmosphere, and genuine local character makes it easy to see why people keep coming back.
Travelers should reserve a hotel in Strasbourg at least two months ahead of their visit to ensure availability and secure better rates, especially during the peak December season when the city hosts its world-famous Christmas celebrations.

What could be improved: The AC needed to be colder, and a fan to move the room air would help too.Good location and clean – Vicky from Australia – 4 July 2025 (9/10)
Rooms were small but had all you needed.
What could be improved: No Netflix or YouTube availableGood location – Dharshanie from Australia – 4 July 2025 (8/10)
Location is very good, trams infront of the front, plenty of restaurants around and easy walk to Petite France.
We had a booking for three adults which was in two levels. It was during the heat wave in summer and the air conditioner did not reach down stairs bed room and the fan was not enough to provide comfortable level of temperature control. Taking the stairs to use the bathroom and to fiil water botes etc did not bother us, but will need to be clarified for anyone who has mobility issues when booking. Staff were friendly and helpful.
What could be improved: As written above, it was too hot.
We could not adjust the air conditioner to make it more efficient.Buzzy Young feel to the place.nice vibe – Dan from United Kingdom – 1 July 2025 (8/10)
Right in the centre of things. All facilities were good. If planning to use the carpark, you tube it first as found this very stressful ( you have to drive over tram tracks and down a walk way).
Superb – Tamara from Germany – 29 June 2025 (9/10)
