Hotel Roses Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Hotel Roses on rue de Zurich, you immediately get the sense that this place knows what it’s doing. It’s not trying to be flashy or over-the-top — just a solid three-star hotel that’s clearly found its groove in one of Strasbourg‘s most coveted neighborhoods. The entrance has that understated French charm that makes you feel like you’ve stumbled onto something locals would actually recommend, which honestly is exactly what happened when I first discovered it.

Location That Actually Matters

Here’s the thing about the location — it’s genuinely exceptional, and I’m not just saying that because the official score is 9.5. You’re on rue de Zurich, which puts you within easy walking distance of both the historic Petite France district and the main train station. I mean, you can literally roll out of bed and be at the cathedral in about ten minutes on foot. What really struck me is how couples seem to gravitate toward this spot — they’ve rated it 9.6 for romantic getaways, and after spending time in the area, I totally get why. The streets around here have that perfect mix of authentic Alsatian architecture and actual city life, not just tourist traps.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in was exactly what you’d want from a well-run three-star property — clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed without any unnecessary frills. The beds are genuinely comfortable (which you can’t always count on in this price range), and there’s enough space to actually unpack your suitcase without playing Tetris with your belongings. What I appreciated most was the attention to details that matter — good lighting for reading, proper blackout curtains, and a bathroom that’s been updated recently enough to feel modern but not so sterile that it lacks character.

Morning Fuel

Breakfast here is one of those continental buffet setups that could easily go wrong, but they’ve actually nailed it. The spread includes all the French basics you’d hope for — proper croissants, decent coffee, and a selection that changes just enough to keep things interesting if you’re staying multiple nights. It’s served in a bright space that gets good morning light, and honestly, starting your day here before heading out to explore Strasbourg’s winding streets feels just right. You know what I mean — it’s substantial enough to fuel a full day of sightseeing without being so elaborate that you feel rushed.

Why Guests Love It

The 8.0 rating this place maintains isn’t an accident — it’s the result of consistently delivering on the basics while being situated in what’s genuinely the best-rated area in Strasbourg. You’re not paying for unnecessary extras, but you’re getting reliable comfort in a location that saves you time and transportation costs every single day. For couples especially, there’s something about the neighborhood’s romantic atmosphere combined with the hotel’s unpretentious approach that just works. It’s the kind of place where you can focus on exploring the city instead of worrying about whether your hotel is going to disappoint you.

Reviews of Hotel Roses

  • I'd go back to Hotel Roses. – Elizabeth from United States – 20 May 2025 (8/10)

Location and reception were great. Not too near all the noise near the square, but not much of a walk. Beautiful scenery on the way.

  • Very good – Accangan from France – 23 April 2025 (8/10)

the location is very convenient to all the tourist destinations and you can walk to the bus stations and to the train station. the staff are so accommodating.

  • Quaint hotel just walking distance from main town – Catherine from New Zealand – 8 January 2025 (9/10)

  • Small, nice hotel with great staff in wonderful location. – Paul from United States – 6 January 2025 (9/10)

Very good location. Front desk staff were polite and professional. Room was clean and comfortable, though the bed (typical double = European twin beds attached) was 'sunken' in the middle. Room was warm (good heaters in bathroom and bedroom). Great water pressure and warm/hot water. Breakfast was good (meats/cheese/yogurts/hard boiled eggs/ juice/ coffee, etc), with a variety of breads (sweet and 'normal'). No warm items. Did not use the sauna so no information on that. I would definitely stay here again.

What could be improved: Unrelated to the hotel, but FYI, the parking in the garage across the street is 22€/24hrs. Breakfast is 13€/pp.

  • Superb – Maciej from Poland – 19 December 2024 (9/10)

Decent hotel at a very nice location! The room was very clean!

What could be improved: I believe it is a bit expensive for what it offers! The room was small and not very comfortable! Also, the room needs some renovation! However, overall we were satisfied!
