Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about this place? The address – 22 Rue Thomann – actually puts you right in the sweet spot of Strasbourg’s old town, and I mean properly in it, not just “near the center” like so many hotels claim. When I stepped out the front door, I was maybe a three-minute walk from the cathedral (you can actually hear the bells, which is either charming or slightly annoying depending on how light a sleeper you are).
The building itself has that typical Alsatian character – honestly, you’re not going to find ultra-modern luxury here, and that’s sort of the point. It’s got this lived-in feeling that actually works in its favor. The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 3-star spot – clean, functional, with enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped. I particularly appreciated that the windows open properly, which sounds silly until you’re trying to air out a room after a long day of walking around. The shower pressure was decent too, though the bathroom’s definitely on the compact side. One thing I noticed – and this matters if you’re sensitive to it – is that being so central means you’ll catch some street noise, especially on weekend evenings when people are heading to the bars around Place Kléber.
What really sells this place, though, is how effortlessly you can explore from here. I’d walk out in the morning and just… wander. The Petite France district is an easy stroll south, and if you’re into the whole European Parliament thing, the tram stops are close enough that you’re not hiking with your luggage. The 7.4 rating feels about right – it’s not going to blow you away, but it does exactly what it promises without any nasty surprises. The staff seemed genuinely local (always a good sign) and could point you toward spots that aren’t overrun with tour groups. I mean, Strasbourg’s not exactly a hidden gem anymore, but staying here felt like I was experiencing it more like a temporary resident than a tourist checking boxes. If you’re the type who values being able to duck back to your room between morning sightseeing and evening dinner – and who doesn’t want to pay premium prices for location – this works really well.

Great city, perfect location, amazing apartment! – Vivien from United Kingdom – 31 May 2024 (8/10)
We loved the location – right near the river and the city centre, plus excellent transport links! It was in a lovely building with a pretty courtyard, and the apartment itself was small but had everything we needed, and was so comfortable. Really lovely to have tea and coffee left for us too. Owner was really responsive to messages and helped us very quickly when we had a minor issue. Overall an amazing place to stay.
What could be improved: Not that we didn’t like, but the lift to the apartment wasn’t working and we didn’t have a key for one of the doors that you needed to go through if you couldn’t go up in the lift! The owner sorted this within half an hour which was great, really appreciated it.Good – Anna&gi from Italy – 16 December 2024 (7/10)
Cozy apartment, very well located.
What could be improved: Some equipment were old or not working properly. Cleaning of the bed sheet could be improved.Good – Boticki from Australia – 27 June 2024 (7/10)
The location was fantastic.
What could be improved: Could be cleaner and the shower needs fixing.2 night stay in Strasbourg – Ana from Portugal – 12 January 2025 (4/10)
The location of the apartment is excellent, close to the historic center and the Christmas market.
What could be improved: The cleanliness of the apartment leaves a lot to be desired, it was a disappointment for us. The bathroom needs an arrangement on the bathtub door to allow water to pass outside. The heating in one of the rooms also doesn't work, considering the time of year it was difficult to sleep in the cold.Disappointing – Vanessa from Australia – 1 January 2025 (3/10)
Location was central
What could be improved: It was dirty and linen was uncomfortable. The lift didn’t work. Not good value for money. Don’t recommend staying here.Very good location but Electricity didn’t work properly, the elevator didn’t work, it was dirty (cub boards, microwave, – Sofia from Switzerland – 29 December 2024 (4/10)

This was the worst booking.com experience I ever had.
Host did help us with getting our refund though, after we finally were able to get ahold of him, he was helpful in the end.
What could be improved: It was a nightmare to even get into the unit. Host was hard to get ahold of, communication was due to language barrier difficult, finally inside we saw the unit has not been cleaned since the last guest. We did not stay!Pleasant – Elodie from France – 3 July 2024 (6/10)
Très bonne localisation, tout peut se faire a pied. Très proche des transports en commun. Ascenseur fonctionnel. Logement calme. Petit logement mais efficace pour 4 et 2 nuits.
What could be improved: Un soucis de propreté. La cafetière Senseo ne fonctionnait pas (nous avons réparé le bouton qui était trop enfoncé).Meilleur rapport qualité prix – Mathilde from France – 25 April 2024 (8/10)
