Hotel Description
You know what? I’ve stayed in a lot of places around Strasbourg, but Le Cocon d’Emma – honestly, the name fits perfectly. This isn’t some sterile hotel chain situation; it’s actually tucked into this gorgeous maison de maître on Rue de la Garance, which is one of those quiet residential streets that most tourists never find. I mean, you’re still walkable to everything (Petite France is maybe fifteen minutes on foot), but you get this completely different vibe from the crowds around the cathedral. The whole setup feels like you’re staying at a sophisticated friend’s place – the kind of friend who has impeccable taste and actually knows how to make guests comfortable.
Emma clearly put serious thought into every detail here. The terrace alone is worth the stay – I spent way too many evenings out there with a bottle of Gewürztraminer from one of the local caves, just watching the light change in that beautiful garden. The rooms have this elegant but lived-in quality; nothing feels too precious or untouchable, but everything’s genuinely nice. The furniture’s actually comfortable (you’d be surprised how rare that is), and there are these thoughtful touches like proper reading lights and enough outlets where you actually need them. What really struck me was how quiet it gets at night – Rue de la Garance doesn’t get much through traffic, so you can actually sleep with the windows open in summer. The whole building has character too; those old maison de maître places have thick walls and high ceilings that keep things cool naturally.
Honestly, the 9.8 rating makes complete sense once you’ve been there. It’s not trying to be flashy or over-the-top – it’s just really, really well done. Emma’s around enough to help with recommendations (she steered me toward this amazing winstub that I never would’ve found otherwise), but she’s not hovering. Parking can be a bit tricky on the street, but there’s usually something within a block or two, and honestly, once you’re settled in, you won’t want to drive anyway. The tram stops at Observatoire aren’t far if you need to get around. I’d definitely go back – actually, I’m already planning to. It’s the kind of place that makes Strasbourg feel less like a tourist destination and more like… well, like you’re getting a real taste of what living here might actually be like.

Very spacious and comfortable apartment, and exceptionally well-decorated. The kitchen and bathroom had really everything one needs. The jardin d'hiver (glasshouse) is a magic corner of the house, we enjoyed it! Annie, the host, was very kind, offering us a welcome champagne and panetone, and helpful practical info. The location is very nice, at a quiet residential area, only 10min walking from the tram stop and just four stops from the centre of the town.
What could be improved: Nothing.A Magical and Heartfelt Stay – Laura from Romania – 23 December 2024 (10/10)
This wasn’t just a stay—it felt like being a cherished guest in someone’s cozy and intimate home!
The house was impressively equipped, especially the kitchen, which featured a high-quality coffee maker, a Thermomix cooker, and enough dishes and cutlery for several evenings.
From cleanliness perspective, the entire space was impeccable.
The highlight was the festive touch: the host decorated the house beautifully for Christmas, greeting us with a warmly lit space, sweets, and beverages. It was pure magic!
What could be improved: Nothing negative to be said. I wish we had more days to enjoy the space, and especially to grab a coffee in the morning on the lovely terasse for which it was way too cold during our stay.Beautiful excellent accomodation that will make you want to stay in rather than go out and site see. – Rebecca from Australia – 14 December 2024 (10/10)
There is nothing bad to say about this apartment. Annie is an excellent host who has thought of everything, including sweet extra touches like a little decoration and the edible treats and drink. Excellent on every level. It felt even better than home.
