Tram – L’Absolu Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Tram – L’Absolu, you immediately sense this isn’t your typical four-star hotel. The name itself hints at something different — there’s an artistic edge here that sets it apart from the chain hotels scattered around Strasbourg. Located on Avenue de Colmar, it sits in a spot that locals know well but tourists often stumble upon by happy accident. The lobby has this understated elegance that feels more like stepping into a well-curated gallery than a standard hotel reception area.
Location & Neighborhood
Here’s what I love about this location — you’re positioned perfectly between Strasbourg’s historic center and the more residential areas where actual Strasbourgeois live their daily lives. Avenue de Colmar isn’t the most famous street in the city, but that’s actually its charm. You can walk to the cathedral and Petite France easily enough, but you’re also close to authentic bistros and cafés that don’t cater exclusively to tour groups. The tram system (fitting, given the hotel’s name) connects you seamlessly to wherever you need to go, and honestly, having that mobility makes all the difference when exploring this city.
The Rooms
The rooms at Tram – L’Absolu reflect that same artistic sensibility you notice downstairs. They’ve managed to create spaces that feel both contemporary and warm — no small feat in a four-star property where you often get one or the other, but rarely both. The attention to detail is what strikes you first: thoughtful lighting, quality linens, and these little touches that show someone actually considered how guests would use the space. I mean, there are proper reading lights by the bed and enough outlets where you actually need them. The bathrooms are well-appointed without being flashy, which feels very Alsatian in its practical elegance.
The Experience
What sets this place apart is how it balances being upscale with remaining approachable. The staff knows Strasbourg inside and out — they’ll point you toward that perfect winstub for dinner or suggest which Christmas market stalls are worth your time (if you’re visiting during the season). There’s something refreshing about staying somewhere that feels connected to its city rather than existing in a generic hotel bubble. You know what I particularly appreciated? The way they handle the little things — good coffee in the morning, reliable WiFi, and rooms that are actually quiet despite being on a fairly busy avenue.
Why Guests Love It
The 8.0 location rating tells the real story here — guests consistently discover that this spot gives them the best of both worlds. Couples especially seem to gravitate toward Tram – L’Absolu, probably because it offers that sweet spot of sophistication without stuffiness. You’re close enough to everything that matters, but far enough from the tourist chaos to actually relax. It’s the kind of place where you can have a genuine Strasbourg experience rather than just checking boxes on a sightseeing list. For a four-star hotel, it delivers exactly what you hope for: comfort, character, and a real sense of place.

Reviews of Tram – L’Absolu
Très bien – Léa from France – 20 February 2025 (8/10)
Conforme aux photos, bon rapport qualité prix
What could be improved: L’emplacement du logement très mal indiqué et dans une zone industrielle.. donc très bruyant..Need to be improved – Minsoo from South Korea – 1 January 2025 (3/10)
What could be improved: This flat has a lot of problems. When I came in at 4 pm, the room was not arranged at all. I was surprised and called several times to the staff but they did not answer. I had to wait 2 hours there before someone came and cleaned the room finally. In addition, the WIFI device did not work and I had to spend extra money for internet roaming data.
It was my worst experience in Booking.com.Conforme à ce que je souhaitais – Jérôme from France – 7 November 2024 (9/10)
Fonctionnel. A 2 minutes de mon lieu d’intervention.
What could be improved: Notice télé… mais je ne suis pas fan de télécorrespondait parfaitement à l'annonce. Facile d'accès, cosy, à conseiller !! – H from Reunion – 19 October 2024 (9/10)
La réactivité de la conciergerie.
Poor – Salvatore from France – 27 September 2024 (3/10)
Inside the appartement was clean and well furnished.
What could be improved: It was written (now has been modified) that there was a free privite parking. FALSE. I have requested a reimbursement of the parking I have payed. No answer so far. The electronic door had low batteries. The place, not too far from the center, didn't look as a safe environment.Superb – Allag from France – 24 September 2024 (9/10)
Comme sur les photos rien à dire. C était confortable et conforme aux prestations décrites et surtout pas loin du tram pas négligeable pour se déplacer
We had a happy couple of days there – Kirsten from United Kingdom – 23 September 2024 (8/10)
Very clean and comfortable. Easy transport nearby.
What could be improved: Quite small for two of usToo expensive and not “exceptional”. Would not recommend they place if you travel for work. It’s good for backpackers, b – Nona from Georgia – 14 December 2023 (2/10)
It was allegedly newly repaired
What could be improved: Unfortunately the ad says it’s exceptional, but we had issues from the moment we entered. They provided video guide how to get to the apartment which was fine, but the internet ID was outdated, so we had to fine someone in the student dormitory (it’s apparently a dormitory) to help us figure out what was wrong. Texting and calling the owner is useless, they respond so late that you’d better figure out things yourself. The heating was not working and we again asked someone in the building to come and help. We asked for an electric heater from the owner, and only got it next day, so we were freezing that night. When we need to iron our stuff and asked for an iron and ironing board, the owner responded that they don’t have these items. The place is also not very conveniently located if you have to visit EU parliament. So
