Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Hôtel Diana Dauphine? It’s this perfectly positioned spot on Rue de la Première Armée that somehow feels both central and tucked away at the same time. I mean, you’re literally a ten-minute walk from the cathedral and all the tourist madness, but the street itself has this quiet, residential vibe that most visitors never discover. The building has that classic Alsatian charm – not the half-timbered fairy tale stuff you see plastered all over postcards, but the real elegant French architecture that locals actually live and work in.

The rooms are honestly better than what you’d expect from most four-star places in France. They’ve done this smart renovation thing where they kept the original moldings and tall windows (seriously, the light in these rooms is incredible) but updated everything that actually matters – the beds are properly comfortable, the bathrooms have decent water pressure, and thank god, the Wi-Fi actually works throughout the building. I stayed during one of those busy summer weeks when half of Europe descends on Strasbourg, and while you could hear a bit of street noise during the day, it quiets down completely by evening. The staff genuinely knows their stuff too – not just the usual tourist recommendations, but they’ll point you toward that little winstub on Rue des Tonneliers that doesn’t have an English menu, or tell you which tram to catch for the best route to Petite France without getting caught in the crowds.

What really sold me on this place, though, is how it feels like staying in actual Strasbourg rather than some international hotel bubble. You’ve got the morning market sounds drifting up from nearby streets, that mix of French and Alsatian conversations in the lobby, and honestly, the breakfast spread includes local stuff you won’t find at the chain hotels – proper Alsatian pastries and regional cheeses that change based on what’s good that week. The location means you can walk to the European Parliament if you’re here on business (it’s about fifteen minutes through some lovely neighborhoods), but you’re also perfectly positioned for evening strolls along the Ill River when the day-trippers have all headed home. It’s not flashy or trying too hard to impress – just solid, comfortable, and genuinely rooted in its neighborhood in a way that makes your stay feel less like a hotel experience and more like you’re actually spending time in this beautiful, complicated city.

Reviews

  • Great little hotel, excellent staff – Jesper from Denmark – 25 July 2025 (9/10)

Great little hotel, super friendly staff and great location. Easy parking and good option with parking for electric vehicles.

What could be improved: Some light noise from the trams outside, but minor detail. Would be a good idea to provide ear plugs for easy sleepers.

  • Perfect for one night stop over – Monica from Netherlands – 24 July 2025 (8/10)

The location , friendly staff and cleanliness of rooms . Spacious rooms and very near to the Cathedral. Bathroom is big and clean ( we had a bath tub) and loved the Nuxe soap & shower soap.
Lift is small so max 2 pax with small luggage or just take the starts . Nespresso machine but no boiler for tea .
We parked overnight in the side streets free from 9 pm to 7 am and ended up paying a bit for the 2 hours before check out . Over 2 euros for 45 mns but worth it as next to hotel . Just watch up for the tram in the Main Street if you arrived midday with traffic . Otherwise very pleased with hotel and price

What could be improved: No boiler for tea

  • Superb – Richard from United Kingdom – 18 July 2025 (9/10)

The location was ideal and the parking was great especially for motorbikes, a bit pricey but we like to lock them up safely

  • Great location, immaculate room and warm welcome for your 4 legged friend – Agnieszka from United Kingdom – 7 July 2025 (8/10)

Great location, immaculate bathroom and room.
We traveled with our dog and have been given room with double door which was excellent. There were treats and bowls waiting for him in the room.
Receptionist was great to help us to sort out vet appointment for returning to U.K. ( standard vet visit but we don’t speak French).

AC was working well in the room and room was quiet and dark at night.

What could be improved: Breakfast isn’t great. It’s small dinning room which gets really noisy with few people in and the coffee machine running.
Coffee is really bad – watery and low quality.

  • An excellent place with good staff and ease of access to Petite France and Cathedral – Santhosh from Switzerland – 6 July 2025 (9/10)

Excellent staff and location to access most of the spots on foot

What could be improved: Lighting in the room and narrow parking garage

  • Superb – Mohammad from United Arab Emirates – 6 July 2025 (9/10)

Very clean, regular cleansing hotel, very nice smiling cooperative staff
The location is very nice and close to the old city

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Exceptional – Roger from United Kingdom – 5 July 2025 (10/10)

Peaceful, comfortable room just a few minutes walk from the old town. Able to store our bikes securely in their underground garage.

    Excellent location. Great find.

  • Lovely comfortable stay – Tracey from United Kingdom – 27 June 2025 (9/10)

What could be improved: Nothing really not to
Like. Staff very friendly and breakfast was good. Only one concern was the car park, very tight to get in and out of.

Great location and a good value.
