Holiday Inn Express Strasbourg Centre by IHG Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Holiday Inn Express Strasbourg Centre by IHG, you immediately get that “this is exactly what I needed” feeling. It’s one of those three-star hotels that doesn’t try to be something it’s not — instead, it just does everything really well. The lobby has this clean, modern vibe without being sterile, and honestly, after a long day of travel, that’s exactly what you want to see.
Location That Actually Matters
Here’s the thing about the location — it’s genuinely fantastic, and I mean that. You’re right in Strasbourg‘s city center on Rue de la Corderie, which puts you within walking distance of pretty much everything worth seeing. The cathedral is maybe a 10-minute stroll, and you can easily wander over to Petite France without breaking a sweat. What I really appreciated is that couples seem to love this spot (they rate it 8.2, which is pretty impressive), and I can see why — you can actually explore the city on foot together without constantly checking maps or waiting for trams.
The Room Experience
The room itself hits that sweet spot between comfortable and practical. You know what I mean — it’s not trying to be an elaborate suite, but everything works perfectly. The bed is genuinely comfortable (and I’m picky about mattresses), there’s enough space to actually unpack your suitcase, and the bathroom has decent water pressure. The design is clean and contemporary, with those little touches that show someone actually thought about what travelers need, like proper lighting for reading and enough outlets for your devices.
Breakfast and Practical Perks
The breakfast situation is actually pretty solid — they do both continental and buffet options, which gives you some flexibility depending on whether you’re rushing out to catch a morning train or planning a leisurely start to your day. I mean, it’s not going to change your life, but it’s fresh, there’s variety, and it sets you up well for exploring. Plus, they have private parking available, which honestly is a huge relief if you’re driving in Strasbourg — finding a decent parking spot in the city center can be a real headache otherwise.
Why Guests Love It
What really makes this place work is that it understands its role perfectly. You’re not paying for marble bathrooms or a fancy spa, but you’re getting a really well-run hotel in an excellent location with all the essentials covered properly. The staff seems to actually care about making your stay smooth, and there’s something refreshing about a place that focuses on doing the basics exceptionally well rather than trying to impress you with unnecessary frills. For exploring Strasbourg, honestly, you couldn’t ask for a better base — you’ll spend your time out discovering the city, not stuck in your hotel room anyway.

Reviews of Holiday Inn Express Strasbourg Centre by IHG
Good – Małgorzata from Poland – 26 July 2025 (7/10)
Clean rooms, good breakfast, friendly staff
What could be improved: Our room was extremely small, the so called sofa bed was very uncomfortable. The room was prepared for two people not for four- there were two glasses, to spoons etcSuperb – Antonia from Greece – 24 July 2025 (9/10)
The hotel is close to the city center 3 stops by tram(A,D) (from stop etoile bourse) and 6 stops far from gare centrale(.bus G).you can also walk to the center in 20-30 minutes.the room is spacious and clean ,the bed is comfortable even though the mattress is a bit firm but we had a very nice sleep!the staff is friendly and helpful and breakfast is good and varied!we enjoyed our stay!
What could be improved: No mini bar or fridge in the room.Good – Ykul from Netherlands – 24 July 2025 (7/10)
The location is great, just a short walk to get to the city center.
Although the parking was full, there is a paid parking garage nearby, and parking slots along the street which are free over the weekend l.
What could be improved: Breakfast options could have been better. There were no vegetables offered.
The staff was cleaning the table while we were still sitting and having coffee which was not enjoyable meaning there were enough free spaces and a whole hour till breakfast time ends. Hard to feel relaxed.
Still good value for money. Two days – Pauline from Italy – 20 July 2025 (9/10)
Bright rooms and large enough with a good sofa bed to sleep extra people
Bathroom was nice and modern
Super kids friendly and this was appreciated
What could be improved: They should precise that the parking with payment is actually not closed and monitored 24/7 cos it was a little useless then, and it would have been similar to park in the street…Despite a few small issues we had a nice stay and would stay here again. – Karen from Germany – 13 July 2025 (8/10)
Comfortable hotel, easy 20 minute walk to old town, and the breakfast was very good.
What could be improved: The wifi didn’t work very well for us. I had to wait 10 minutes for hot water in the shower, and there was mold on the bathroom ceiling.Very good – Olafur from Iceland – 11 July 2025 (8/10)
I appreciated the peaceful atmosphere, the comfortable bed, the clean bathroom, the great location, and the friendly staff.
What could be improved: The breakfast was rather poor. It wouldn’t take much to improve it, just a few fresh and simple touches would make a big difference.Good, comfortable hotel, and close to Citycentre – Tanveer from Netherlands – 11 July 2025 (9/10)
