So I’ve stayed at Goodtime Apartments a handful of times now, and honestly, it’s become my go-to spot when I’m in Strasbourg – which says something, because I’m pretty picky about where I sleep. The building sits right on Rue de la Mésange, and you know what? That location is actually perfect if you want to be in the thick of things without dealing with the chaos of the main tourist drags. You’re literally a three-minute walk from Place Kléber, but tucked away enough that you’re not hearing drunk tourists stumbling around at 2 AM.

The apartments themselves have this lived-in feel that I really appreciate – they’re not trying to be some sterile boutique hotel, but they’re not shabby either. I mean, it’s a solid 3-star place, so don’t expect marble countertops, but everything works well and the kitchenettes are actually functional (I’ve cooked proper meals in there, not just heated up instant noodles). The beds are surprisingly comfortable, and here’s a detail that matters more than you’d think – the WiFi is genuinely fast, not that frustrating hotel internet that takes five minutes to load Instagram. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle in this part of the city, but there’s usually street parking if you circle the block a couple times, and the Austerlitz parking garage is maybe a six-minute walk if you’re feeling lazy.

What really gets me about this place is how the staff actually remembers you – last time I checked in, the guy at reception asked if I wanted the same type of room as before, which is the kind of personal touch you don’t get at the big chains. The neighborhood has this perfect mix of locals and visitors, so you’ll find proper Alsatian restaurants (try Maison des Tanneurs, it’s maybe eight blocks away and worth the walk) alongside the more touristy spots. Early mornings are my favorite time here – you can grab fresh bread from the boulangerie right around the corner on Rue des Grandes Arcades, and the whole area has this quiet energy before the day tourists arrive from the train station. The trams are super convenient too; you’re right between stops, so getting to Petite France or the European Quarter is straightforward. I’ll be honest, the building isn’t the newest, so you might hear some creaking in the hallways, but the soundproofing between rooms is decent enough. That 8.8 rating isn’t just marketing fluff – it’s the kind of place that gets the important stuff right without any unnecessary frills, and sometimes that’s exactly what you want.
