Hotel Description

You know what? I wasn’t sure what to expect when I first pulled up to 2A Rue des Fleurs – I mean, “apartment in a renovated barn” could go either way, right? But honestly, this place completely surprised me. The moment you step inside, you realize someone put serious thought into converting this old building. The exposed beams aren’t just for show (like in some places where they slap up fake rustic stuff), these are the real deal, weathered and sturdy, probably older than anyone’s grandparents. The space feels genuinely cozy without being cramped, and there’s this subtle smell of old wood that’s actually comforting rather than musty.

What really gets me is the location – Rue des Fleurs is this quiet little street that most tourists never stumble across, but you’re actually just a few minutes’ walk from the cathedral area. I discovered you can cut through the small park nearby and pop out right near Place Kléber, which saves you from navigating the more crowded tourist routes. The neighborhood has that authentic Strasbourg feel, where you’ll hear locals chatting in Alsatian dialect from their windows and smell fresh bread drifting from the boulangerie around the corner each morning. Parking was easier than I expected too – there’s usually spots along the street, though weekends can get a bit tight when locals are hosting family dinners.

The apartment itself feels more like staying at a thoughtful friend’s place than a typical rental. Whoever renovated this barn actually lives in Strasbourg, I’d bet – there are those little touches that only locals would think of, like the extra blankets for Alsatian winters and a proper coffee setup (not just some sad instant packets). The Wi-Fi is solid, which matters if you’re trying to plan day trips to the wine route or book dinner reservations. I will say the stairs are a bit steep – it’s clearly an old building adapted for modern use – but that’s honestly part of its charm. The whole place stays surprisingly quiet too, even though you’re right in the city. Sometimes you hear the tram in the distance, but it’s more soothing than disruptive, sort of like urban white noise. With that 9.7 rating, I was expecting something good, but this place actually lives up to the hype. It’s the kind of spot where you end up extending your stay because hotels start feeling sterile in comparison.

Early hotels booking in Strasbourg is essential during major events like the Christmas Market, as accommodations fill up quickly with visitors eager to experience the city’s renowned festive atmosphere and Gothic architecture.

  • Wonderful weekend in a beautiful city – really lovely clean accommodation – Ash from United Kingdom – 30 June 2025 (10/10)

Karin met us to show us round the property- Excellent location for tram- seating area outside lovely – really clean – kitchen looked well equipped though we didn’t cook- nice touch of juices and water in fridge

What could be improved: A mirror in the main bedroom would be useful. Extra seating in the TV area as the settee would not sit 4 comfortably.

  • Friendly, well equipped property, ideal location, friendly host. – Klara from Belgium – 6 May 2025 (10/10)

Everything ! Clean, comfortable, hyper equipped, traveller friendly. The hosts are exceptionally careful and helpful.
When they discovered that we will celebrate my son’s birthday there, the landlady prepared a cake for him! We were touched by her intention.

  • Nice place to stay and enjoy Strassbourg – Olivier from France – 18 April 2025 (9/10)

Very nice host and calm area. Very nicely renovated place with nice nature around and stork passing by.
Easy access to the city center.

  • Exceptional – Caroline from United Kingdom – 8 February 2025 (10/10)

Great location close to the tram & the surrounding area has v nice range of restaurants, bakery, other shops etc. House was very comfortable and clean and Karine was a very friendly host. Off-road parking was good.

  • A relaxing stay away from the hustle and bustle of the Xmas markets. – Gavin from Australia – 12 January 2025 (9/10)

Loved this clean, modern apartment with all the essentials, including a washing machine, we needed for our short recoup after a few hotel stays the week prior.
The owners were very welcoming, including their little cat who passed by to say hello.
Nice to see a little countryside and to walk to the local shops whilst only being a ten minute tram to the Strasbourg Xmas markets.

What could be improved: Nothing worth mentioning

  • Very pleasant stay – Sean from Australia – 15 December 2024 (9/10)

Lovely place, recently renovated and very clean. Great location close to public transport but out of the city. Very peaceful and quiet.

  • Excellent, thank you, we would happily stay again and recommend the property to others. – Rachel from United Kingdom – 1 December 2024 (10/10)

It was super clean and well equipped and the hosts were friendly. It was very close to a tram stop and a boulangerie and supermarket were also nearby.

What could be improved: The address on booking.com was incorrect, in that the house number should have had an A after it but didn't, so we were knocking on the wrong building's door. However when I messaged the hosts they came out of their house next door and we spotted them. But clearer indication of where to go to find the keys would be good – especially when it is dark!

  • Excellent place to stay! Great access to the city and we hope to return and stay again soon. – James from Saudi Arabia – 20 April 2024 (10/10)

The newly renovated space was very well set up and had a great feel to it – great view of nature but yet on the doorstep of Strasbourg!

What could be improved: All was great!

  • Exceptional – Zuzana from Slovakia – 22 January 2024 (10/10)

We would definitely come back again.

  • Best experience in Strasbourg – Joao from Switzerland – 4 December 2023 (10/10)

The property was extremely cozy, well decorated and very comfortable.

The host’s refurbished the entire house and they provided a folder with its history.

The location despite not being in city centre is excellent since there is a tram station 2 minutes walking from the house which leads you to the city centre in 5 minutes.

The house were with all amenities which you could think of and the hosts were extremely friendly, and provided a lot of tips for sightseeing and tips for local cuisine and culture.

Definitely a place to come back. It’s was a wonderful stay.

    What could be improved: N/A
