You know what caught me off guard about Villa Schiller? It’s tucked away on this quiet residential street in the Orangerie district where you can actually hear birds in the morning instead of traffic – which, honestly, is pretty rare when you’re staying right in Strasbourg. I mean, you’re literally a ten-minute walk from the cathedral and all that tourist chaos, but the moment you turn onto rue Schiller, it feels like you’ve stumbled into this peaceful little neighborhood pocket that most visitors never discover.

The two garden-side studios are exactly what they sound like – you get these lovely views of the property’s back garden area, and there’s something really satisfying about having your morning coffee while looking out at actual greenery instead of another building. The studios themselves are pretty straightforward, nothing fancy but thoughtfully set up with everything you actually need (and I appreciated that the kitchenette was properly equipped, not just for show like some places). The whole vibe is more “staying at a friend’s place” than “generic hotel room,” which I found refreshing. Sure, it’s a 3-star place so don’t expect marble bathrooms or room service, but honestly? The charm is in how unpretentious it all feels. The Orangerie area itself is kind of perfect if you want to experience Strasbourg like someone who lives there – you’ve got the Parc de l’Orangerie right there for morning runs or evening walks, and the European Parliament buildings are close enough that you’ll see all the international crowd mixing with locals at the nearby cafés.

What really sold me on this place was how it positions you in the city. You’re close enough to walk everywhere that matters (the Petite France area, the main shopping streets, those incredible Christmas markets if you’re there in December), but you get to come home to this quiet street where parking isn’t a nightmare and you can actually get a good night’s sleep. The 7.8 rating feels about right – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in town, but it delivers on the stuff that actually matters when you’re exploring a city like Strasbourg. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if I was planning one of those longer trips where you want to feel a bit more settled than your typical hotel experience allows.

  Great location and a very welcoming host! The apartment is clean. It’s quite small but will be perfect for a solo stay.
  
  What could be improved: It was quite cold in the apartment but I thank host for providing a heater. Also, due to the fact that the apartment is located on the ground floor, there is a bit of a damp smell in the apartment.

  It was perfect for our specific need. Travelling with our dog it was great to have our own mini apartment with the door leading straight into the garden.

  Villa Schiller’s studio is located close proximity to the CoE buildings and Parc de Orangerie. The yard where apartment is, is amazing – nature at its best. Quiet area, walking distance to center, cafes and supermarket close. AnneFrance is very responsive and meets you while arriving.

  We liked it so much that we only stayed one night out of three and booked ourselves into a hotel for the other two. Near a bus route into Strasburg. Quiet, refined area.
  
  What could be improved: There are two apartments here but until you arrive you don't know which one you have been allocated. Ours has a very small kitchenette area, a bed which takes up most of the second room and a shower room which could do with updating and being cleaned around the skirting tiles. It looks like it is in a converted cellar. There is a very small round table in the kitchen area with a stool and one chair (we were told we could carry the chair from the bedroom to use in the kitchenette!). The other apartment is bigger, has a larger more modern kitchen area, a separate bedroom which appeared larger with a modern style shower room. We asked to be moved to to the better apartment but were refused as it was booked. As the garden, which overgrown and not like the pictures on this web site, backs onto a school it is noisy from 7.45am until 6pm+. So no quiet morning lie in or quiet early evening drinks during term time. The pictures on the web site are all mixed up with others that show rooms that do not feature in either of the studio apartments on the garden level.
