I stumbled across this place on Route de Schirmeck when I was looking for something that wouldn’t break the bank but still felt, well, actually comfortable. It’s one of those spots that surprises you in the best way possible.

The thing about this location is it’s perfectly positioned if you know Strasbourg at all. You’re technically outside the city center (which keeps prices reasonable), but the tram system here is fantastic – you can get into the heart of things without dealing with the parking nightmare that is downtown Strasbourg. I mean, anyone who’s tried to find a spot near the cathedral knows what I’m talking about. The Route de Schirmeck area has this nice residential feel, and you’ll actually hear birds in the morning instead of just traffic, which was a pleasant surprise. The 3-star rating feels about right – they’re not trying to be something they’re not, but everything works properly and the rooms are genuinely comfortable. Clean sheets, decent shower pressure, reliable wifi (I work remotely sometimes, so this matters to me). The breakfast situation is solid too, though I found myself wandering to the local boulangerie down the street more often than not – there’s something about fresh French pastries that hotel continental breakfast just can’t match, you know?

What really sold me on this place was the staff’s approach – they’re helpful without being hovering, if that makes sense. When I asked about getting to the European Parliament (I had a work thing), they didn’t just point vaguely toward town but actually pulled out a tram map and showed me the best route. Small thing, but it matters when you’re trying to navigate a new city. The 7-out-of-10 rating seems fair – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it delivers exactly what it promises. The rooms are quiet enough that you’ll sleep well, the location gives you easy access to both Strasbourg proper and the prettier suburban areas if you want to explore beyond the tourist trail. I’d definitely stay here again, especially during festival season when everything closer to the center gets booked solid or ridiculously expensive. It’s that sweet spot of comfortable, practical, and reasonably priced that’s honestly harder to find than you’d think.

  What could be improved: The building this is located in smells like dead animals. The apartment doesn’t really look like the photos. Bed was uncomfortable, pillows need to be changed. I debated staying, but after reading the host was not responsive I decided against it. It choose differently next time.

  What could be improved: There was a huge TV, but no internet, thus being useless. Some of the furniture was broken and the bed is a couch that cannot fit a normal bed sheet.
