Walking up to Charmille – Un havre de paix on Rue de la Charmille, you immediately understand why they chose that name — it really does feel like a peaceful haven. The building has this understated elegance that’s so typical of Strasbourg‘s residential neighborhoods, and honestly, I was impressed by how quiet the street felt despite being so close to everything. You know what struck me first? The fact that there’s actually parking available — and it’s free, which is pretty much unheard of in this part of the city.

This four-star hotel sits in what I’d call the sweet spot of Strasbourg — close enough to walk to the cathedral and Petite France, but far enough from the tourist crowds that you can actually get a good night’s sleep. I mean, recent guests rated the location 8.1 out of 10, and after staying here, I totally get why. You’re about a 15-minute stroll to the historic center, which means you can easily pop back for an afternoon rest without feeling like you’re miles away from the action.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in had this lovely blend of modern comfort and French charm — nothing too fancy, but everything felt thoughtfully chosen. The beds are genuinely comfortable (I’m pretty picky about this), and the bathrooms are well-designed with good water pressure. What I really appreciated was the attention to soundproofing — you’d never guess you’re in a city center. The windows are large enough to let in plenty of natural light, and the décor strikes that perfect balance between contemporary and cozy.

Dining and Amenities

While the hotel doesn’t have a full restaurant, they’ve got breakfast sorted, and it’s actually quite good — proper French pastries, decent coffee, and fresh fruit. The staff here really knows their stuff when it comes to restaurant recommendations too, which saved me from wandering around aimlessly on my first night. There’s also a small wellness area with a sauna that’s perfect after a day of walking around the cobblestone streets — honestly, my feet were grateful.

Why Guests Love It

Here’s the thing about Charmille — it’s not trying to be the flashiest hotel in Strasbourg, and that’s exactly why it works so well. Couples especially seem to love this place (and I can see why — it’s got that intimate, romantic vibe without being overly precious about it), but it’s equally great for solo travelers or friends exploring the city. The combination of that excellent location, free parking, and genuinely peaceful atmosphere makes it feel like you’re getting way more value than the price suggests. Plus, with a 7.8 rating from actual guests, you know you’re not taking a gamble — this place consistently delivers what it promises.

  What could be improved: Vor der Anreise mussten wir Angaben auf der Webseite tätigen die nicht funktioniert hat.
  Nach etlichen telefonaten und mails, sollen wir den Eigentümer anrufen, was ich auch tat, wo ich dann die Antwort bekam, es sei in Ordnung, also irgendwie war es 23 Uhr als es hiess wir können den Schlüssel am Morgen haben.
  Soviel ärger für eine Uebernachtung als Ausflug nach Strassburg. Jetzt habe ich die Abrechnung vom Telefon erhalten, super das Telefon wurde umgeleitet nach Madagaskar.
  Wenn er alles übers Internet haben will, sollte der Vermieter wenigstens schauen, dass es auch funktioniert.

  Evin büyüklüğü iyiydi. Mutfağının olması işimizi kolaylaştırdı. Tramvay durağı ve Lidl marketi 5-6 dakikalık yürüme mesafesindeydi. Evin yakınında küçük market de vardı.
  
  What could be improved: Maalesef mutfak eşyalarının çoğu temiz görünmüyordu. Salondaki koltuğun arkası biraz rutubetli gibiydi. Banyodaki çamaşır makinesinin üstü bile tozluydu. Merkeze mesafesi vardı.

  Un appartement plutôt agréable et avec une décoration apaisante et de nombreux avantages comme la cuisine aménagée, l’accès à la télévision dans le salon et dans le chambre et l’accès à Netflix.
  Il y a également un accès à 5 minutes des transports en commun.
  
  What could be improved: Une très forte odeur de cigarette est présente dans l’appartement. De plus, la salle de bain n’est pas du tout pratique pour se doucher. Obligation de tenir le pommeau de douche, rideau de douche pas très hygiénique.
  On nous a également soupçonné d’avoir ouvert le stock de linge alors que tout était verrouillé.

  Хозяин квартиры всегда на связи. Квартира супер удачно расположена: 5 минут до трамвайной остановки, потом 10 минут езды на трамвае – и ты в самом центре! Припарковать машину можно недалеко от дома на улице, есть бесплатные общественные парко-места. Большой Lidl находится в 5 минутах ходьбы.

  Appartamento confortevole, e pulito in zona tranquilla a una mezz'oretta dal centro.Il proprietario persona gentilissima e disponibile . Nella cucina c è tutto per farsi da mangiare. Letto comodo con topper. Consiglio vivamente .

  Casa muito confortável, aconchegante, com todos os equipamentos necessários à nossa disposição. Perto do supermercado e do metro de superfície.
