Hotel Description

Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Suite Place de l’Etoile – the Route du Polygone isn’t exactly Strasbourg’s most glamorous street, you know? But here’s the thing about this place: it completely surprised me in the best way possible. The building itself has this understated elegance that feels authentically French without trying too hard, and once you’re inside, you realize why it’s earned that impressive 9.1 rating.

What really got me was how quiet it is despite being so close to everything that matters. I mean, you’re literally a fifteen-minute walk from the Cathedral and all the tourist madness around Petite France, but the location on Route du Polygone means you actually get some peace when you want it. The tram stop is right there too – I think it was the Etoile stop, which makes sense given the name – so getting around is ridiculously easy. The staff actually knows their stuff about the city, which is rarer than you’d think. When I asked about finding decent Flammekueche that wasn’t a tourist trap, the guy at reception immediately mentioned this little place near Place Kléber that locals actually go to.

The suites themselves are what really seal the deal though. They’ve got this modern-meets-traditional Alsatian thing going on that could’ve been cheesy but somehow works perfectly. The kitchenettes are properly equipped too – not just the usual mini-fridge and kettle situation, but actual cooking facilities if you want to grab some ingredients from the morning market. I loved that the windows open properly (you’d be amazed how many hotels have those awful sealed windows), so you can get that fresh morning air without cranking up the AC. The beds are seriously comfortable, and the bathrooms have enough space to actually move around, which feels luxurious when you’re used to cramped European hotel rooms. One small thing – the Wi-Fi was solid throughout, even when I was video calling from bed, which honestly makes or breaks a stay for me these days. Parking can be a bit tricky in that area if you’re driving, but there’s a garage nearby, and the hotel staff will point you in the right direction without making it feel like a huge hassle. It’s one of those places where the three-star rating feels almost conservative – the attention to detail and genuine hospitality bump it up several notches in my book.

Strasbourg hotels range from charming boutique properties in the historic Petite France district to elegant converted mansions and modern accommodations near the European Parliament.

  • Superb – James+donald from New Zealand – 7 June 2025 (9/10)

The property was very close to the bus station as well as to the old town area. Easy walking distance,
    Lovely to stay there.

What could be improved: Might have been nice to have been able to watch a tv during the stay. None available

  • Super value for money in Strasbourg ! – Jean from France – 1 June 2025 (10/10)

Very friendly welcome by the owner, who spares no time to give you all information you might require. Everything met my expectations and above : location, comfort – a real feeling of home. Warmly recommended – shall surely come back !

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Not as advertised and should not be listed on this site. – Richard from United Kingdom – 27 August 2024 (2/10)

View (if you like overlooking a graveyard from the bedroom) the view in the photo is from the living room balcony which appeared to be out of bounds..

What could be improved: The host was a hysterical control freak who was obviously letting out their own home and insisted that we arrived at a specific time (even though we made it very clear that we were a family with a 4yr old travelling up from Italy so would be difficult to be precise with time) and bombarded us with calls and messages (including making hysterical calls while we were parking and trying to find the property which is difficult as there are two number 13s, one on each side of the street) in the days before the stay and was waiting at the property when we got there, which made things awkward as they clearly were waiting for us to turn up before then going out. We stay regularly in apartments like this across Europe but were made to feel very uncomfortable while there as we obviously were sleeping in their bed. This is a well appointed apartment but the two bedrooms we were allowed in were up a steep spiral staircase in the loft (not suitable for small children) and obviously their own bedrooms. It was made very clear that the kitchen and living room were out of bounds (half eaten meal left in kitchen/on cooker and a large framed picture left on the sofa??) Overall this is a nice apartment and home for the owners but really not a suitable place to stay or be advertised on booking.com

  • Disappointing – Birgit from Germany – 24 July 2025 (4/10)

What could be improved: siehe oben.
