Hotel Description

Look, I’ll be honest – when I first spotted Studio Centre on Rue des Orphelins, I wasn’t exactly blown away by the exterior. It’s one of those straightforward three-star places that doesn’t try to impress you with fancy lobbies or over-the-top decor. But you know what? Sometimes that’s exactly what you need, especially in a city like Strasbourg where you’re spending most of your time wandering around anyway.

The thing about this place is the location – and I mean really understanding the location, not just the typical “convenient” nonsense you read everywhere. You’re smack in the middle of Krutenau, which honestly feels like the most lived-in part of Strasbourg. Walk five minutes in any direction and you’ll hit something worth seeing. The Barrage Vauban is practically around the corner (great for those early morning jogs if you’re into that), and you can actually walk to the cathedral without dealing with trams or buses. Plus, there’s this little boulangerie about two blocks down that opens ridiculously early – perfect when you want real croissants before the tourist crowds descend on Grande Île. The studio setup works well if you’re traveling solo or as a couple who doesn’t need tons of space. I mean, it’s not going to win any design awards, but the rooms are clean and functional, with enough counter space to spread out your maps and guidebooks. The wifi actually works (always a gamble in older European buildings), and the shower pressure is surprisingly decent – you’d be amazed how often that’s an issue in this price range.

What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night, despite being so central. Sure, you’ll hear some street noise during the day, but once evening hits, Rue des Orphelins settles down nicely. The 7.1 rating feels about right – it’s not going to be anyone’s dream hotel, but it delivers on what it promises without any major surprises. The staff speaks enough English to help with basic questions, though don’t expect concierge-level service. Check-in was smooth enough, and they actually had decent recommendations for dinner spots that weren’t just the obvious tourist traps. Honestly, if you’re the type who books a hotel just to have a clean place to sleep and store your stuff while you explore, this works perfectly. It’s got that no-nonsense European efficiency thing going on – nothing fancy, but nothing broken either. And in a city where hotel prices can get pretty steep, especially during Christmas market season, the value proposition makes sense.

Travelers should reserve a hotel in Strasbourg at least two months ahead of their visit to ensure availability and secure better rates, especially during the peak December season when the city hosts its world-famous Christmas celebrations.

  • Dans l'ensemble, séjour agréable. – Mario from France – 28 April 2024 (8/10)

What could be improved: La porte des toilettes était difficile à manipuler, car défectueuse. Il faudrait prévoir son remplacement.

  • Pleasant – Super_marc from Spain – 8 December 2024 (6/10)

    Cómodo y bien ubicado

What could be improved: Calidad precio mala, la puerta del baño estropeada (hace tiempo según leo), por lo que vale el apartamento ya lo podrían haber arregladdo

  • Exceptional – Ahmad from France – 30 May 2025 (10/10)

– Igor from Czech Republic – 21 October 2024 (10/10)

What could be improved: Маленький туалет, но ю, в принципе, нет проблем. Летом жарковато, но есть вентилятор. Мне показался довольно-таки темный свет, особенно в туалете.

  • Agréable et parfaite – Picanco from France – 7 May 2024 (9/10)

  • Disappointing – Lucile from France – 12 December 2024 (4/10)

What could be improved: Le ménage n'était pas entièrement fait !
