Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Soeurs? The name itself – it means “sisters” in French, and honestly, that family-run vibe hits you the moment you walk through the door on Rue des Sœurs. I mean, how perfect is it that a hotel called “Sisters” sits on Sisters Street? The whole thing feels intentional in that understated French way.

The location is actually brilliant if you know Strasbourg at all. You’re tucked into this quiet residential street that most tourists completely miss, but you’re maybe a ten-minute walk from the cathedral – and I’m talking a leisurely stroll, not power walking. The neighborhood has that lived-in feel where actual Strasbourgeois grab their morning coffee and bread, which honestly beats being stuck in the touristy center where every café charges you extra for existing. Parking can be a bit tricky (it’s street parking mostly), but the trade-off is you’re not dealing with tour bus noise at 7 AM like you would closer to Petite France.

What really works here is how they’ve kept things simple without cutting corners. The rooms aren’t huge – this is Europe, after all – but they’re thoughtfully laid out with these lovely wooden floors that actually feel warm underfoot. The beds are properly comfortable, not just decent for a 3-star, and the bathrooms are updated enough that you’re not wrestling with some ancient shower situation. I stayed in a room facing the courtyard, which meant it was genuinely quiet at night, though the street-facing ones probably get a bit more morning light if that’s your thing. The WiFi actually works throughout the building, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how many places in old Strasbourg struggle with that.

The staff runs the place with this relaxed efficiency that feels very Alsatian – they’re genuinely helpful without hovering, and they know the neighborhood well enough to point you toward the good bakery (it’s the one two blocks down toward Place Kléber, not the obvious one on the corner). Check-in was smooth even when I arrived earlier than expected on a rainy Tuesday.

Look, Soeurs isn’t trying to be the fanciest place in Strasbourg, and that’s exactly why it works. The 7.9 rating feels about right – it’s solidly good without any major surprises, positive or negative. You’re paying for a clean, comfortable base in a genuinely nice part of the city, run by people who seem to actually care about the place. If you’re the type who needs a full concierge service and turndown chocolates, this probably isn’t your spot. But if you want to feel like you’re staying somewhere with character in a neighborhood that hasn’t been completely overtaken by tourism, well, you could do a lot worse than the Sisters.

Reviews

  • Suit for solo traveler with a good space for own, still recommend. – Tsai from Taiwan – 21 January 2025 (8/10)

Exactly like the photo, awesome. It’s the top of building, 3rd floor. Beautiful view of looking outside.

What could be improved: I’m glad I’m short, not very high ceiling. They provide most all of the kitchen needed, if they could provide cooking oil might be more useful, and some plates and cups for sure not washed clearly, you can tell from its dry ink.

  • très bon séjour . – Christine from France – 12 July 2025 (8/10)

  • Very good – Francesca from Italy – 15 December 2024 (8/10)

La posizione è centrale perché proprio dietro la cattedrale, l’appartamento era accogliente e grande.

What could be improved: Non riuscivamo a trovare il portone d’ingresso perché non è proprio sulla piazza ma su una stradina e sul portone non c’è alcuna scritta di riferimento e il fatto che l’appartamento non aveva gli asciugamani.

  • Bonito pero cosas que mejorar – Desiree from Spain – 28 November 2024 (7/10)

    Ubicación y es acogedor

What could be improved: La comodidad de la cama y almohadas. El radiador hace mucho ruido durante la noche

  • Superb – Teresa from Austria – 8 May 2025 (9/10)

    Lage top, schön eingerichtet

What could be improved: Sehr niedrige Decken, gerade unter den Schrägen

  • Bon séjour… – Anne-marie from France – 8 November 2024 (7/10)

Bon emplacement.

  • Appartement bien situé – Sabrina from France – 24 March 2025 (5/10)

    L’emplacement

What could be improved: Il manque des rideaux aux fenêtres
