Hotel Description
You know what? When I first heard about staying in a roulotte (that’s basically a traditional French wagon turned into accommodation), I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect. But this little gem on Rue Saint-Ignace completely won me over – it’s tucked away in what I’d call the “real” Strasbourg, about a 15-minute walk from the cathedral madness, which actually turned out to be perfect.
The whole setup is pretty charming in that uniquely French way where they take something totally unconventional and somehow make it work beautifully. The roulotte itself feels like stepping into a cozy wooden cocoon – everything’s compact but thoughtfully designed, sort of like a really well-planned tiny house before tiny houses were trendy. I mean, you’re not getting a sprawling suite here, but there’s something really satisfying about how efficiently everything fits together. The bed was surprisingly comfortable (I was worried it might be form over function), and the little kitchenette meant I could grab fresh bread from the boulangerie down the street and actually enjoy it properly with coffee in the morning. Speaking of the neighborhood – Rue Saint-Ignace runs through this lovely residential area where you’ll hear church bells instead of tourist chatter, and there’s this fantastic little café called Le Vintage about two blocks over that the locals actually frequent.
What really struck me was how quiet it gets at night, which is gold when you’re trying to recover from days of wandering around cobblestone streets. The hosts were genuinely helpful too – not in that overly scripted hotel way, but like actual people who know their city and want you to enjoy it. They pointed me toward this incredible winstub (traditional Alsatian restaurant) that I never would have found otherwise, tucked away near Place du Marché aux Poissons. The whole experience feels authentically Strasbourg in a way that the fancy hotels in Petite France just… don’t, honestly. You’re close enough to catch the tram into the historic center whenever you want, but far enough away that you get to see how the city actually lives and breathes. Plus, parking isn’t the nightmare it is closer to the tourist zones – there’s usually street parking available if you’re driving. It’s one of those places where the 8.9 rating actually makes sense when you experience it, because while it’s not trying to be the Ritz, it absolutely nails what it is trying to be.

Exceptional – Mason from United States – 21 January 2025 (10/10)
Location is great and the area is quiet! By using the local busses or tram, you can get in and out very easily on your own time.
je rétourne si je peux – Rosebrock from Italy – 30 June 2024 (8/10)
The place is unique and it is beautiful to be in the midth of nature though being close to a big city. The garden and the roulotte are marvellous.
What could be improved: There is not much cooking equipment. The place is not really clean. More love to details would be great.Lovely little cabin & nice hot shower. Extra charges for basics (bed sheets) and late night check in only seemed unf – Rhianna from New Zealand – 18 September 2022 (7/10)
Beautiful little cabin. Really nice shower. The owner was nice.
What could be improved: Mandatory extra €20 charge for sheets & towels. For the price paid, this should have been included. This put a bit of a downer on our stay. Check in from 6pm – 8pm only and check out by 10am is strict. Really tiring to not be able to check in til dinner time when you want to shower and get ready to eat at that time. I did ask if we could be given access earlier but unfortunately they said no.Despite the friendly host, I’ll not return. – Eduardo-miranda from Ireland – 26 June 2024 (6/10)
Location close to work, bucolic surroundings, friendly host.
What could be improved: Inflexible 2h check-in time – room was too hot – no kettle – NO INTERNET, so it’s bad for work. It’s said somewhere under facilities that there’s no internet, but I found it quite misleading. It should be in the property's description, beside all the good things they say, they also should state: NO INTERNET!Ottima vacanza – Alanyishu from Italy – 30 December 2024 (10/10)
Christian molto disponibile e gentile
What could be improved: Peccato non ci sia il wifiExceptional – Judith from Germany – 30 December 2024 (10/10)
Merci vielmols!
What could be improved: Es gibt nichts zu bemängeln, so gar nichts.Roulotte très calme et bien équipé – Nathan from France – 28 November 2024 (9/10)
La roulotte est très très agréable à vivre, bien equipé et parfaite pour se reposer après une journée en ville. Quartier très calme le soir.
What could be improved: Rien à dire.Exceptional – Pierre from France – 10 November 2024 (10/10)
Exceptional – Margaretha from Netherlands – 28 September 2024 (10/10)
Perfecte accomodatie..
Privé met uitzicht op de tuin.
Het was schoon.La roulotte romantique – Charley from France – 31 July 2024 (10/10)
Une roulotte c'est sympa.
Bien aérée et agréable même en journée de grosse chaleur car le terrain est bien arboré.
What could be improved: Équipement de cuisine un peu spartiate qui ne permet pas de cuisiner sur place.
