Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Résidence Romains, I wasn’t expecting much from the name alone. But this place actually surprised me in the best way possible. It’s tucked away on Route des Romains, which honestly feels like you’re heading into a quiet residential neighborhood rather than toward tourist central, and that’s exactly what makes it work. You’re still technically in Strasbourg, but you get this sense of breathing room that’s pretty rare for a 4-star place.
The whole setup is more like staying in a really well-appointed apartment than a traditional hotel – I mean, they call it a résidence for a reason. What really sold me was the garage situation, and I know that sounds boring, but hear me out. Free parking in Strasbourg is basically like finding a unicorn, especially somewhere this close to the city center. You can actually drive straight in without circling blocks or feeding meters every two hours, which honestly made my entire trip less stressful. The rooms themselves have this lived-in quality that feels authentic rather than sterile – like someone actually thought about how people live rather than just how spaces photograph. The kitchen setup is legit too, not just some mini-fridge situation, so you can grab groceries from the local markets (there’s a great one about ten minutes away) and actually cook if you want to save some euros or just crave something familiar.
What I really appreciated was how the staff seemed to get that most guests aren’t just passing through for one night. They know the bus routes, they’ll tell you which tram stops make sense for different parts of the city, and honestly, they gave me better restaurant recommendations than most guidebooks. The location works because you’re close enough to walk or bike into the historic center when you want that whole Petite France experience, but far enough out that you’re not dealing with tour groups outside your window at 7 AM. The building itself is quiet – like, actually quiet, not hotel-brochure quiet – and I slept better there than I have at places twice the price. It’s not perfect, don’t get me wrong. The WiFi can be a bit spotty in certain corners, and if you’re someone who needs to be right in the thick of things, the 15-minute walk to the cathedral might feel like too much. But for the price point and what you get – especially that garage – it’s honestly one of those places I’d book again without thinking twice about it.

Very good – Fariborz from United States – 10 June 2025 (8/10)
The apt.completely renovated,clean & tastefully & fully furnished.
What could be improved: Person who gave us keys,in a hurry (not explaining how everything works) Said he will bring coffee buy did not!
Distance to center
Charged 20€ extra.This amount not mentioned at time of booking.Superb – Lynne from Australia – 27 November 2024 (9/10)
The property is well located close to a tram line with a Lidl supermarket, bread shop and several eateries nearby. The difficulties we had working the TV were quickly addressed. The apartment was well equipped and the heating worked well. Our request for additional supplies (toilet paper and bin liners) were attended to promptly.
Superb – Suthiphan from Germany – 15 April 2023 (9/10)
Very good location with bakery, supermarket and restaurant near by. A tram station is just right in front. Walking distance to the city center. The apartment is very clean.
What could be improved: It's quite noisy at night from the tram.Good location and great value for the price. – Tommy from Germany – 17 November 2022 (8/10)
Good location, close by the old town, but not in the crowded areas. Nearby there are a lot of places to buy food or seat down and order, also Lidl supermarket is very close by. There was a garage available for the car, although parking can be found in the surrounding streets where I initially parked as we still didn't have the key.
What could be improved: On the Booking.com listing, it said check-in is from 15h. I requested to check-in at 14h, if possible, but the answer was that maybe the cleaning won't be finished by then. And that is OK, but after I messaged the owner when we arrived at 14:30, there was no answer until 15:35. In the meantime, we didn't know if we should wait or go. At the end, we went exploring the city and came back later that evening to finally unpack and check in.
So the handover of the keys (the code) could have been a bit better, no big harm done, but when you are with small kids you need better planning, that's all. Luckily the weather was nice for a walk.Good – Ramona from Switzerland – 4 October 2022 (7/10)
The living room and the shower were quite big. Also the owner was very kind and he organised everything quite well. When we had trouble to open the garage door he reacted well and helpful. There are some supermakets, a bakery, a pharmacy and a tabac store nearby as well as the tram station which brings you in to the old town in about 10 minutes.
What could be improved: Unfortunately it was only clean on first sight.Good – Ravikiran from Germany – 23 September 2024 (7/10)
Very good location with bakery, supermarket and restaurant near by. A tram station is just right in front.
What could be improved: The walls and floors carry the sound a lot, so it was very loud and hard to sleep hearing everything the neighbor was doing. and noisy at night from the tram. It's an ok place to spend a night or two while in Brussels. – Anastasia from France – 13 September 2023 (7/10)
There is a parking next to the house, which we appreciated. The shower is nice and large.
What could be improved: The apartment is very far from the city center and one needs to take a tram to get to the city. Walking is not an option – way too far. The walls and floors carry the sound a lot, so it was very loud and hard to sleep hearing everything the neighbor was going.Exceptional – Bogdan from Romania – 8 January 2023 (10/10)
The apartment is very clean, located in a nice neighborhood and close to city center; The host is very friendly and helpful.
Totally recommended!Exceptional – Lauren from Australia – 10 January 2023 (10/10)
We really enjoyed our stay. It was clean and was enough space for 4 people. Appliances and heating were fantastic and host was incredibly responsive and helpful when we had an issue with the hot water (resolved very quickly!). Great location next to a supermarket and the tram to take you into the centre, we were also able to walk in. Would 100% recommend and would stay again! Thank you!
What could be improved: Small issue with the hot water but as mentioned it was resolved quickly. The bed was a little small but was perfectly fine for us.Avoid! – Pavao from Croatia – 30 June 2025 (1/10)
City
What could be improved: Unfortunately, I wish I had looked at the reviews before booking this accommodation because all the bad reviews are true. It is a one-room accommodation even though it says it has two rooms, an apartment that is very noisy due to the proximity of the railway and poor insulation, couldnt sleep whole night,, the apartment is not worth investing in and is very dirty with many insects, the only advantage of this facility is the garage. The inability to enter the reserved apartment unless you pay an additional 50e which was never mentioned before, without any bill supposedly for cleaning services of the facility and you can see for yourself that no one cleaned the facility before your arrival. Now I expect some kind of nonsense response from the careless owner just like he has responded so far, as far as Booking.com is concerned, I think I will no longer use their services because after so many complaints they are not taking any measures to prevent this. The city of Strasbourg is beautiful. Greetings.
