Hotel Description

You know what really struck me about this place? It’s tucked away on this tiny impasse de la pie – literally “magpie’s dead end” – which sounds quirky but actually means you’re sleeping on one of the quietest streets in central Strasbourg. I mean, you’re maybe a three-minute walk from the cathedral (I timed it), but once you duck into that little side street, the tourist chaos just… disappears.

The studio itself is honestly what every apartment rental should be but rarely is. When they say “tout équipé,” they actually mean it – there’s a proper espresso machine, not some sad instant coffee setup, and the kitchen has everything down to a decent cheese grater (trust me, you’ll want to hit the fromagerie on rue des Orfèvres). The space feels bigger than it probably is because of these tall windows that let in this gorgeous filtered light. I stayed there in September and kept the windows cracked at night – you can hear the church bells from Saint-Pierre-le-Vieux in the distance, but no street noise whatsoever.

What I love about the location is how genuinely central it is without feeling touristy. You’ve got locals doing their shopping right there – there’s this excellent bakery maybe fifty meters away where I’d grab pain au chocolat every morning (the owner speaks perfect English but appreciates when you try French). The tram stop at Homme de Fer is a quick walk, so you can easily get to Petite France or the European Quarter, but honestly, everything worth seeing in the old town is walkable. Parking can be tricky in this area – well, parking’s always tricky in Strasbourg’s center – but there’s a public garage on rue du 22 Novembre that’s not too brutal price-wise.

The 8.9 rating makes total sense to me. It’s got that boutique hotel feel but with the freedom of having your own space. Check-in was smooth (they send you codes ahead of time), and the place was spotless – I mean, the bathroom tiles were literally gleaming. My only tiny gripe? The Wi-Fi was a bit spotty near the windows, but honestly, that forced me to actually look up from my laptop and notice I was staying in one of Europe’s most beautiful cities. The building itself has character – you can tell it’s been renovated thoughtfully rather than just flipped. There’s this original wooden staircase that creaks in the most charming way.

If you’re the type who wants to experience Strasbourg like you actually live there for a few days, rather than just passing through snapping photos, this is your spot. You’ll find yourself grocery shopping at the Monoprix, having evening wine on that little balcony (yes, there’s a balcony), and taking routes through the old town that most tourists never see. It’s premium without being pretentious, central without being chaotic – exactly what you want when you’re trying to get under a city’s skin rather than just scratching its surface.

The concierge service in Strasbourg can arrange exclusive tours of Strasbourg Cathedral, secure reservations at traditional winstubs, and organize personalized visits to the European Parliament and UNESCO World Heritage Grande Île.

Reviews

  • A good value for a stay in Strasbourg! – Ralph from United States – 28 October 2024 (8/10)

Good location, helpful host, plentiful coffee! Very well kept.

What could be improved: The plastic modular bathroom was weird. I suppose all in the building were the same to cut construction costs.

  • Superb – Maja60 from Serbia – 19 October 2024 (9/10)

The apartment had everything we needed, very nice, comfortable and clean in a great location. Good communication with the host. Martin was very kind and helpful.

  • Exceptional – Marija from Serbia – 19 April 2024 (10/10)

Location was great, apartment is very cute and clean, but the hospitality was above all this. So thankful for Martin's help, he was very kind and helpful. All recommendations for this lovely apartment and kind personnel.

  • Exceptional – Dionysios from Belgium – 19 June 2023 (10/10)

Everything was perfect! clean, central, comfortable, value for money

  • Exceptional – Anna-liisa from Estonia – 2 June 2023 (10/10)

Very friendly host! Good location! Clean, cozy and comfortable

  • Very good – Themela from Italy – 10 July 2025 (8/10)

Good location, excellent restaurants within walking distance, and a supermarket open late. The building and apartment are very modern and clean.

What could be improved: I found the pillows a little uncomfortable, but this depends on personal taste, I have found much worse in other apartments or hotels

  • Positive – Ivan from Bulgaria – 29 November 2024 (8/10)

I the centre of the city. Close to the old town. Supermarkets and shops availble in proximity.
I really liked that everything is by IKEA.

What could be improved: The property is really small, basically a big room. Nevertheless, for a couple on all day sightseeing, it is enough.

  • Clean central apartment – Mari from Estonia – 10 November 2024 (8/10)

This place has a really good central location. The building itself is in the courtyard meaning that noise levels are down (except for the big ventilation station from hotel next door). Grocery store is arond the corner (opens from 7 AM, Sundays 9 AM). Distance to train station is walkable. Apartment itself is clean and has nice kitchen corner with plenty of kitchenware. Coffee, tea also available. In the bathroom there is shower gel and shampoo. WiFi works well.

What could be improved: I was a bit dissapointed because the info given about the equipment in the apartment here and the reality does not mach. It was said that there is owen and dishwasher, but in reality there is none. Having a dischwasher was one of the main reasons why I chose exactly this place. Also I must note that apartment is pretty small so 2 people there would feel bit tight. Specially as there are not much places where to put things (and also suitcase).

  • Good small studio apartment – Barry from United States – 22 August 2024 (8/10)

Good location and a supermarket nearby

What could be improved: No Ac, it reached into the 90 degrees the first two days that I was there

  • Very good – Alistair from New Zealand – 17 June 2024 (8/10)

Close to the old centre of Strasbourg and a comfortable walk to the lovely La Petite France for a great night of people watching, photographing those beautiful old houses and churches around the canals of the I'll river area.we had many great meals and plenty to drink in the plentiful bars, cafes and restaurants.
The accommodation was cosy, but functional with good access via lift and key access to the front door and room. Great shower and the bed was very comfortable.
This property is only big enough for a couple for a couple of days. The car parking was good, only a very short walk from the unit. There was a small supermarket a few doors down so handy for any food needs .

What could be improved: Compact room no spare space. Need to factor in cost of parking.
