Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first heard the name “Résidence Chez Tante Germaine,” I was expecting some overly quaint tourist trap. But this little 3-star gem on rue du Commandant Reibel actually surprised me in the best way. It’s tucked into one of those quiet residential streets that locals use as shortcuts (you know, the kind where you feel like you’re getting an inside peek at real Strasbourg life), and there’s something genuinely welcoming about the whole setup. The building itself has that understated Alsatian charm – not the over-the-top half-timbered stuff you see plastered all over postcards, but more like staying at your French aunt’s place if she happened to have really good taste and actually knew how to run a hotel.
What really got me was how the staff seemed to know their neighborhood inside and out. I mean, when I asked about getting to the cathedral, instead of just pointing me toward the main tourist route, they told me about this little passage that cuts through behind the old buildings – saved me probably fifteen minutes and took me past this amazing bakery that definitely doesn’t make it into guidebooks. The rooms themselves are exactly what you’d want from a place like this: clean, comfortable, with those little touches that show someone’s paying attention. The beds are actually good (I’m picky about this stuff), and honestly, the soundproofing is better than you’d expect for a building this age. I could barely hear the street noise, which is saying something since Strasbourg drivers can be… enthusiastic.
The whole experience just felt authentic in a way that’s getting harder to find. You’re close enough to walk to Petite France in about ten minutes, but you’re not dealing with the crowds and inflated prices that come with staying right in the tourist zone. There’s a tram stop practically around the corner if you need to get across town, and – this might sound weird but it matters – there’s actually decent parking nearby, which anyone who’s tried to drive in Strasbourg’s old town will appreciate. The 8.4 rating makes total sense to me; it’s not trying to be fancy, but it does what it does really well. You’ll leave feeling like you discovered something special rather than just booking another generic hotel room. Plus, and this is just a bonus, the whole area comes alive in the evenings when locals head out for dinner – it’s like getting a free show of actual French life happening right outside your window.
Early hotels booking in Strasbourg is essential during major events like the Christmas Market, as accommodations fill up quickly with visitors eager to experience the city’s renowned festive atmosphere and Gothic architecture.

Reviews
Nice quiet place to stay . – Tarmo from Luxembourg – 26 January 2025 (9/10)
It was very excellent and clear communication on how to get keys. The rooms were clean, the kitchen was fully equipped. I just stayed there for two nights, but enjoyed every moment of being there.
Very satisfactory – Jan from Czech Republic – 6 April 2024 (9/10)
I like the location, very nice part of the city and very close to the centre. Very convienent, the tram is under your nose, there are two backeries nearby, the street is very quiet, parking is on the street under your window….the appartment itself is well equipped…it is large with all facilities…the kitchen has more than you need…the wc is separeted from the bathroom…the communication with the owner and handover of keys and important imformation were very efficient…you can shut the light by shades outside the windows…
What could be improved: Only a very few details might be of concern. The closets in bedrooms are literarly antiquarian. The bedding is french, so two persons use one blanket, so ask for extra sheets, the doubblebeds are 160cm wide only…Beautiful apartment – Kristýna from Czech Republic – 29 August 2023 (9/10)
it was really nice, easy to find, friendly owners, havent seen them, but they were really easy to talk to, free parking spaces right next to the building (in case you are wondering you dont need a Crit´Air to arrive to the area), very well equipped apartment, there is even some food that you can use while cooking, great bathtub to relax. I would have loved to stay for more than 2 nights.
What could be improved: it is quite far from the centre, the public transport didnt work that day, so it was long walk there and back, but it is pretty along the river. Stairs in the building are a little old and tricky. There is older floor in the apartment that squeks.Nice appartement to stay – C from Netherlands – 14 September 2022 (9/10)
The appartement was clean and had all the facilities needed. Close enough to the city center. Parking on the street for free and always space

What could be improved: It was too far out of townGreat for a short stay – Maike from Switzerland – 16 August 2024 (8/10)
Spacious rooms, air conditioning, fully equipped kitchen, toilet separated from bathroom, clean towels and bedding, self check in system
What could be improved: WiFi didn’t always work, especially in the room next to the kitchen. Location is great but only if you have a car.Good accommodation to visit Strasbourg for two days – Grisha from United Kingdom – 30 May 2023 (8/10)

What could be improved: NothingNice Place – Raclara from United States – 12 September 2022 (8/10)
The owners were very nice and helpful, the apartment was very attractive and spacious, there were complimentary treats in the fridge, and although it's not in the city center, the neighborhood is pretty with shops within walking distance.
What could be improved: I couldn't stand up in the shower in the 2nd floor apartment because the ceiling was slanted, so I had to sit or kneel in the bathtub to wash my hair, the showerhead itself had to be handheld, and there was no shower curtain so water got all over the floor. It was very awkward.
