Hotel Description

Look, I’ll be honest – when I first heard the name “Nouveau – L’Éclat – Stade Meinau,” I thought it was trying way too hard. But honestly? This little 3-star gem on Rue de Franche Comté totally won me over. The location is actually perfect if you’re planning to catch a match at the Stade de la Meinau (hence the name, I guess) – you can literally walk there in about ten minutes. But here’s what I didn’t expect: it’s also surprisingly well-connected to the rest of Strasbourg. The tram stops nearby, and you know what? That matters more than you’d think when you’re hauling luggage around a city you don’t know.

The building itself has this sort of understated modern vibe – not flashy, but clean lines and they’ve clearly put thought into the details. My room was smaller than American hotel standards (well, this is Europe), but everything just… worked. The shower had proper water pressure, the WiFi didn’t cut out every five minutes, and – this is key – the windows actually blocked out street noise. I mean, you’re still in a city, so there’s some ambient sound, but I slept fine even though I’m usually pretty sensitive to that stuff. The staff genuinely seemed to care about getting things right, too. Check-in was smooth, and when I asked about good spots for dinner that weren’t total tourist traps, the guy at the front desk gave me three solid recommendations within walking distance. One of them – this little winstub called Au Brasseur – turned out to be exactly the kind of place I was hoping to find.

What really impressed me was how they’ve managed to feel both local and welcoming to outsiders. The breakfast (which, honestly, you should probably get – it’s worth the extra cost) had proper French pastries alongside the usual hotel fare, and the coffee was actually decent. The whole place has this 8.8 rating, and I get it now. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Strasbourg, but it nails all the basics while adding those little touches that make you feel like someone actually thought about what travelers need. Plus, if you’re driving, they’ve got parking figured out, which – trust me – is not something you want to leave to chance in this part of the city. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if I was coming back for another football match or just wanted a solid base for exploring the city without breaking the bank.

Many travelers prefer to book apartments in Strasbourg through local agencies that offer personalized recommendations and insider knowledge about the best neighborhoods for exploring the city’s rich Franco-German heritage.

Reviews

  • Exceptional – Petar from North Macedonia – 18 February 2025 (10/10)

There was enough comfortable space for six persons. It was very clean and well equipped.

  • Poor – Aylin from Turkey – 2 April 2025 (3/10)

The only positive aspect was that finding parking for the car was very easy. Other than that, there wasn’t much else.

What could be improved: We expected home-like comfort, but the kitchen and its equipment were extremely insufficient for cooking and eating even for 2-3 days. The house was very cold, its location was far from the city center. The sheets were dirty, the pans were scratched, and even the most basic essentials we needed were missing. Because of this, it was a huge disappointment.

  • Superb – Lorie from France – 30 June 2025 (9/10)

Tolle Aufteilung der Zimmer für eine Gruppe. Schöne Einrichtung, bei der man sich gleich wohl gefühlt hat. Supermarkt zu Fuß erreichbar.
    Top!

  • Ravis de notre séjour. – Majida from Luxembourg – 13 April 2025 (10/10)

What could be improved: Le système d’ouverture de la porte digicode un peu difficile

  • Séjour agréable – Marie from France – 15 May 2025 (8/10)

What could be improved: Un minimum vital dans la cuisine eut été apprécié surtout quand on arrive tard le soir veille de jour férié (sel, poivre, huile, sucre, aluminium…)
