Honestly, when I first pulled up to the Nemea Appart Hotel Elypseo on Avenue du Rhin, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect – the name’s a bit of a mouthful, and from the street it looks like one of those modern apartment blocks you see all over this part of Strasbourg. But you know what? Sometimes the best places are the ones that don’t try too hard to impress you from the outside.

The thing about this spot is that it’s actually perfect if you want to feel like you’re living in Strasbourg rather than just visiting it. I mean, you’re staying in what’s essentially a proper apartment – there’s a little kitchenette where you can actually cook (and trust me, after a few days of eating out, you’ll appreciate having real coffee in the morning). The rooms are clean and modern, nothing fancy but everything works, which is honestly more than I can say for some of the pricier places I’ve stayed. The wifi’s solid too, if you’re one of those people who needs to stay connected. What really sold me on the location was how easy it is to get around – you’re right near the port area, which sounds industrial but is actually quite pleasant for evening walks along the Rhine. The tram stops are close enough that you can zip into the old town in about fifteen minutes, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with all the tourist crowds when you just want to grab groceries or find a quiet café. There’s this great little boulangerie just down the street that locals actually use (you’ll know it’s good because there’s always a line of French grandmothers at 8 AM), and if you walk towards the river, you’ll find some surprisingly decent restaurants that don’t jack up their prices just because they’re near a hotel.

The staff runs things pretty smoothly – check-in was straightforward, no weird hidden fees or pushy upselling. Parking can be a bit tricky during busy periods (Strasbourg gets packed during Christmas market season), but there’s usually something available if you don’t mind walking a block or two. The building itself is quiet enough that you won’t be kept awake by slamming doors or loud conversations in the hallway, which I always worry about with apartment-style places. Look, it’s not going to win any design awards, and if you’re expecting concierge service or a fancy lobby, this isn’t your place. But if you want somewhere clean, practical, and genuinely well-located for exploring Strasbourg without breaking the bank, it’s actually a really smart choice. The fact that you can walk to both the European Parliament area and catch easy transport to Petite France makes it work for pretty much any kind of trip you’re planning.

  The staff is very professional and nice ( they tried to solve all my demands). Perfect location near city center (by foot). Good neighborhood. Clean and all you need in the room for a medium to longer stay . Elevator available. Breakfast available ( did not took it because I did not have time). Pool and gym really nice.

  The location was very nice. There were 2 tram stations just beside the hotel location. It was easy to travel and there was one Turkish shop just 200m away which is open even all the shops are closed and helped us to survive during closed days.

  Tram D goes directly from the Train station to the hotel. Close enough to the city center. The room was clean and warm, in general room, furniture and equipment were in very good condition. I didn't use the swimming pool or gym so no remarks.

  The room has all the things you need (microwave, iron, stove). The centre is easily accessible with the tram. There are plenty of parking spaces near the hotel. The pool was heated.

  I liked the comfort of the bed, the equipment (microwave, iron), wifi connection, relatively close to the centre, big shower, quick check-in and check-out, good price.
  
  What could be improved: The soap and the cup for toothbrushes were missing, just one roll of toilet paper – we ran out of that. The bad smell from the sewerage system. Dirty door to the bathroom. The drapes were disgusting.
