Hotel Saint Augustin Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Hotel Saint Augustin on rue Kuhn, you immediately get that feeling you’ve stumbled onto something good. This three-star property sits right in the heart of Strasbourg‘s most coveted neighborhood — and honestly, the location alone makes it worth considering. The building has that classic Alsatian charm without being overly touristy, which I really appreciated. You know what struck me most? How quiet rue Kuhn feels despite being so central to everything.

Location & Neighborhood

The location score of 9.5 isn’t just marketing fluff — couples especially seem to fall in love with this spot, rating it 9.5 for romantic getaways. You’re literally steps away from Strasbourg’s stunning cathedral and the winding streets of Petite France, but tucked away enough that you’re not dealing with constant foot traffic outside your window. I mean, you can walk to the European Parliament if that’s your thing, or just wander the Christmas markets (if you’re visiting in winter) without any hassle. The tram connections are right there too, which makes day trips to the Alsace wine route totally doable.

The Room Experience

The rooms at Hotel Saint Augustin are what I’d call thoughtfully simple — nothing flashy, but everything you actually need is there. Each room feels clean and well-maintained, with comfortable beds that actually let you sleep well after long days of sightseeing. The bathrooms are compact but functional, and honestly, when you’re spending most of your time exploring Strasbourg anyway, you don’t need a massive suite. What I really liked was how quiet it stays at night — the street positioning really works in your favor here.

Breakfast & Dining

Now, the breakfast situation is actually pretty impressive for a three-star place. They’ve got continental options covered, but also vegetarian and gluten-free choices, which isn’t always a given at smaller hotels. The buffet setup works well — not overwhelming, but enough variety to keep you happy whether you’re a croissant person or need something more substantial. If you’re rushing to catch an early train or tour, they’ll even pack breakfast to go, which saved me one morning when I had an early Rhine cruise.

Why Guests Love It

That 8.7 rating really reflects what you get here — solid, reliable hospitality in an unbeatable location without the premium price tag of fancier places. You’re paying for position and comfort, not bells and whistles, and sometimes that’s exactly what you want. The staff genuinely seems to care about helping you navigate Strasbourg, offering tips that go beyond the standard tourist brochures. For couples especially, there’s something romantic about being tucked away on this charming street while still being in the thick of one of France’s most beautiful cities.
