ibis Styles Strasbourg Stade de la Meinau Overview
First Impressions
Walking into ibis Styles Strasbourg Stade de la Meinau, you immediately notice this isn’t your typical chain hotel — there’s actually some personality here. The lobby has this modern, colorful vibe that feels fresh without trying too hard, and honestly, it’s a nice change from the beige-everything approach you see elsewhere. The staff greeted me in both French and English, which I appreciated since my French is, well, let’s just say it needs work. You can tell this three-star property puts effort into making guests feel welcome from the moment they walk in.
Location and Getting Around
The hotel sits on avenue de Colmar, which might not sound familiar if you’re new to Strasbourg, but it’s actually a smart spot. You’re close enough to the famous Meinau stadium (hence the name) that you can walk there in about ten minutes — perfect if you’re catching a Racing Club de Strasbourg match. The city center is about a 15-minute tram ride away, and there’s a stop pretty close to the hotel. What I really loved though was the parking situation — they have private spots right at the hotel, which is honestly a godsend in Strasbourg where finding a place to leave your car can be a real headache.
The Room Experience
My room was on the third floor, and I have to say, ibis Styles really nailed the design here. The space felt bigger than I expected, with this clever use of bright colors and smart storage that made everything feel organized. The bed was comfortable — not high-end, but definitely good enough for a solid night’s sleep. The bathroom was compact but well-designed, with a decent shower that actually had good water pressure. You know what impressed me most? The little touches, like the local artwork on the walls and the reading lights that were actually positioned where you’d want them.
Breakfast and Dining
The breakfast setup here is where this place really shines, honestly. They offer both continental and buffet options, and the buffet spread was way more extensive than I expected for a three-star place. Fresh pastries (this is France, after all), good coffee, local cheeses, and even some hot options that change daily. I mean, you’re not going to confuse it with a five-star hotel spread, but it’s definitely a step above the usual continental breakfast you get at chain hotels. The dining area gets busy around 8 AM, so if you’re not a morning person, you might want to go a bit earlier or later.
Why Guests Love It
There’s something refreshingly straightforward about this place — it delivers exactly what it promises without any pretense. Couples seem to particularly enjoy it here, and I can see why. The location gives you easy access to both the city and the stadium area, the rooms are comfortable and well-designed, and the service feels genuinely friendly rather than just professionally polite. It’s not trying to be something it’s not, which I actually found quite appealing. For the price point and the quality you get, especially with that private parking and solid breakfast, it’s honestly hard to find much to complain about.
