Mercure Strasbourg Centre Petite France Overview
First Impressions
Walking into the Mercure Strasbourg Centre Petite France, you immediately get that feeling of being in exactly the right spot. This three-star hotel sits right in the heart of Strasbourg‘s most charming district, and honestly, the location alone makes it worth considering. The lobby has that modern Mercure vibe — clean lines, contemporary touches, but nothing too flashy. You know what really struck me though? How the staff seemed genuinely pleased to see guests, not just going through the motions.
The Petite France Magic
Here’s the thing about staying in Petite France — you’re literally in Strasbourg’s postcard neighborhood. I mean, you step outside and there are those famous half-timbered houses, canals, and cobblestone streets that make this area a UNESCO World Heritage site. The hotel’s location score of 9.5 isn’t just numbers on a screen; couples especially seem to fall for this spot (they rate it 9.6, which is pretty remarkable). You can walk to the cathedral in about ten minutes, and the European Parliament is close enough if you’re here on business. But really, you’ll want to just wander the medieval streets right outside your door.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was exactly what you’d expect from Mercure — thoughtfully designed without being over the top. Clean, comfortable bed, decent-sized bathroom, and — this matters more than you might think — really good blackout curtains. The windows actually open (not always a given these days), and if you’re lucky enough to get a canal view, well, you’ll understand why people keep coming back. The Wi-Fi worked perfectly, which I always appreciate, and there’s enough parking nearby if you’re driving, though honestly, you won’t need a car once you’re here.
Morning Fuel
Breakfast deserves its own mention because they’ve clearly put thought into it. The buffet setup covers all the bases — continental options, vegetarian choices, and they actually have proper gluten-free selections (not just an afterthought). I particularly liked that they use local ingredients where possible, and the coffee is strong enough to get you moving. The breakfast room gets busy around 8:30, so if you prefer a quieter start, aim for earlier or after 9:30.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t the fanciest hotel in Strasbourg, but that’s sort of the point. It delivers exactly what it promises — a solid, well-located base for exploring one of France’s most beautiful cities. The 8.6 rating reflects what you actually experience: professional service, comfortable accommodations, and that unbeatable location in Petite France. You’re paying for the privilege of staying in the best-rated area of the city, and frankly, it’s worth every euro. Whether you’re here for a romantic weekend or exploring Alsatian culture, you’ll find yourself coming back to this neighborhood — and this hotel — again and again.

This is a pleasant and very clean hotel just a block from the train station, so very easy to get to when arriving or departing. The room was quite large and had a very nice street view. I thought it was a great value, and I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed the room and my stay. Would definitely recommend if coming in via train.

Very convenient location with excellent breakfast – Scoger from Germany – 10 June 2025 (8/10)
Conveniently located within easy walking distance to central station and to La petite France.
Friendly and helpful staff at reception and more so in the breakfast room.
Nicely decorated compact room but well equipped with good shelf and hanging storage space. Roomy bathroom with easy to access shower and good storage space.
Very good buffet breakfast with good choice of items including freshly pressed orange juice and cakes.
What could be improved: Shower controls hard to operate with wet hands and shower floor was slippery when wet. Glass shelf over the bathroom washhand basin interfering with use of the tap. Basin plug leaked badly.Very comfortable and conveniently located – Rafael from Japan – 5 June 2025 (9/10)
The hotel is well located, close from the train station and at walking distance from the city center. The room was large, clean and comfortable. As a plus, it offers free coffee and water to guests.
