Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw this place listed as “Maison des écluses Strasbourg F3 90m2 Jacuzzi Climatisation,” I thought someone had just mashed together a bunch of French real estate terms. But you know what? Sometimes the awkward names hide the best gems, and this spot right on quai du canal de la Bruche is exactly that kind of surprise.

The location actually makes perfect sense once you’re there – you’re literally steps from where the Bruche canal meets up with the main waterways, so there’s this constant gentle sound of water that’s way more soothing than you’d expect. I mean, canal-side usually screams “tourist trap,” but this stretch feels more like where actual Strasbourgeois might take their evening walks. The 90 square meters isn’t just marketing fluff either – this place genuinely feels spacious, especially that living area where you can spread out after a day of wandering through Petite France (which, by the way, is close enough to walk but far enough that you’re not dealing with crowds of selfie-stick wielding tourists at 7 AM).

What really got me though was that jacuzzi situation. I’ll admit I was skeptical – hotel jacuzzis can be… well, let’s just say disappointing. But this one’s properly maintained, fills up quickly, and honestly after walking on cobblestones all day, it’s exactly what your feet are begging for. The air conditioning might seem obvious to mention, but if you’ve spent any time in Strasbourg during summer, you know how muggy it gets near all that water. The fact that it actually works efficiently – and quietly – makes those warm July nights way more bearable. Plus there’s something sort of luxurious about cooling off inside while listening to the canal traffic outside.

The whole setup feels more like borrowing a friend’s really nice apartment than staying in a hotel, which I guess explains that 9.5 rating. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward, parking wasn’t the nightmare I’d braced for (there’s actually decent street parking if you’re willing to walk a block), and the neighborhood has this lived-in quality that makes you feel less like you’re just passing through. You’ve got that little bakery on the corner that opens ridiculously early, a decent bistro within stumbling distance, and you’re close enough to the city center that you can easily duck into Place Kléber when you need that urban energy. It’s one of those places where you start planning your next visit before you’ve even checked out – and trust me, that doesn’t happen often.

  Jean-Paul was such amazing host. He provided all the information we need so promptly and helped us staying very comfortably. The property was located at very nice environment with nature. Parking was easy and access to all the places that we planned was easy. Everything was just perfect. It should’ve be more perfect if weather was better. Too much rain and cold during my stay but this is not something we could control 😉. If I will have a chance to revisit Strasbourg, I will definitely choose Jean-Paul’s place again.

  Jean -Paul was a fantastic host. The apartment so well presented that we felt at home immediately. Xmas decorations. Was so appreciated also. Welcome breakfast supplies so so good. Beds so comfortable. And the separate. Dining room so spacious. Easy to get Bolt pick up into the.centre of town.

  The entire villa was exceptional. Jean – Paul were the best host. The pictures doesn't justify in reality, It's much better than it looks in the photographs. Would definitely stay here only when ever i visit Strasbourg again. Thanks Jean – Paul for our memorable stay.

  Lovely apartment in the suburbs of Strassbourg. View to the garden is lovely, although you can't actually go out into it. The only bad thing is the trains, which pass very often and all through the night. I lost sleep. Otherwise, comfortable and clean.

• Super Wohnung mit hervorragender Ausstattung und Bestückung sowie toller Lage – Christoph from Germany – 21 June 2025 (10/10)

  Ausstattung sehr gut. Kaffeekapseln und Toilettenpapier für den gesamten Aufenthalt vorrätig. Marmelade, Orangensaft, Butter, Toast und Milch waren für die Erstversorgung vorhanden.
  Die Lage am Kanal und die Anbindung an öffentliche Verkehrsmittel sind einwandfrei.
  Die zusätzlichen Tipps von Jean-Paul waren sehr hilfreich.
  Die Übergabe ist professionell und routiniert.
  
  What could be improved: Mit den deutschen Fernsehsendern gab es zwar Probleme, jedoch war dies für uns eher irrelevant.

  We zijn heel gastvrij ontvangen bij aankomst. De accommodatie is ruim, netjes en compleet. De eigenaar had voor aankomst brood, melk en koffie klaargezet. Het huis is gunstig gelegen: in een groene omgeving aan de stadsrand. Slechts 10 minuten (auto) naar het centrum en vlakbij de snelweg. En als je een fiets bij je hebt: neem het (snel)fietspad langs het Canal de la Bruche en geniet van het buitengebied ten westen van de stad.
