Hôtel le Grillon Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Hôtel le Grillon on rue Thiergarten, you immediately get that feeling you’ve stumbled onto something good. This three-star gem sits right in the heart of Strasbourg‘s most coveted neighborhood — honestly, the location alone makes it worth considering. The building has that classic Alsatian charm without being too touristy, and there’s something refreshingly unpretentious about the whole setup that I really appreciated. The attention to detail in the décor reflects the hotel’s commitment to maintaining authentic regional character.
The Perfect Strasbourg Base
Here’s what I love about staying here — you’re literally in the best-rated area of the city, which means everything you want to see is within walking distance. The cathedral is just a few minutes away, and you can easily wander through Petite France without dealing with any complicated transport. I mean, couples consistently rate this location a 9.4 out of 10, and after spending time here, I totally get why. You’re close enough to the action but tucked away on a quieter street, so you actually get some peace when you need it. The neighborhood offers the perfect balance of accessibility and tranquility.
The Room Experience
The room are exactly what you’d expect from a well-run three-star — clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed without any unnecessary frills. My room had everything I needed for a few days in Strasbourg, with decent storage space and a bathroom that actually worked properly (you’d be surprised how often that’s not the case). The beds are genuinely comfortable, and the windows open wide if you like fresh air — something I always appreciate in European hotels. Each space is optimized for both relaxation and practicality.
Breakfast Worth Getting Up For
You know what really impressed me? The breakfast spread here is actually thoughtful. They’ve got continental options, but they also cater to vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free needs without making it feel like an afterthought. The buffet setup works well — not too crowded, good variety, and the coffee is decent enough to get your day started right. It’s the kind of breakfast that makes you want to linger a bit longer before heading out to explore. The morning experience sets a positive tone for your entire day.
Why Guests Love It
With an 8.4 rating, this place clearly knows what it’s doing. The staff genuinely seems to care about making your stay smooth, and there’s something to be said for a hotel that doesn’t try to be more than it is. You’re paying for a solid, well-located base in Strasbourg, and that’s exactly what you get. The combination of that unbeatable location, reliable comfort, and reasonable pricing makes it the kind of place you’d actually recommend to friends — which, honestly, is probably the best compliment I can give any hotel. This hotel represents excellent value for travelers seeking authentic Strasbourg experiences.
The concierge service in Strasbourg can arrange exclusive tours of Strasbourg Cathedral, secure reservations at traditional winstubs, and organize personalized visits to the European Parliament and UNESCO World Heritage Grande Île.

Great location, friendly staff, good breakfast spread. The receptionist was very helpful and they have an agreement with the indigo parking not far away to obtain a cheaper rate, if traveling by car.
