Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw this place listed as “L’Harmonie des Combles” with that whole string of location tags, I thought it might be one of those overpromising Airbnb situations. But you know what? It actually delivers on pretty much everything that lengthy name suggests.

The apartment sits on the fourth floor of this old Strasbourg building on Rue des Païens (and yes, you’ll get your steps in – no elevator, but honestly the climb isn’t terrible). What struck me right away was how they’ve made the most of what’s clearly an attic space. The sloped ceilings could feel cramped, but there’s something cozy about it instead – maybe it’s the way the light filters in, or how they’ve arranged everything so you’re not constantly bumping your head. I mean, if you’re over six feet tall, you’ll need to duck in spots, but it works. The location thing isn’t just marketing speak either. I walked to the train station in maybe eight minutes, which saved me so much hassle with luggage. And Petite France – honestly, you can wander over there for dinner and feel like you’re in a completely different city, all those half-timbered houses reflected in the canals. There’s a Monoprix practically around the corner for groceries, plus this little boulangerie that I hit up every morning (the pain au chocolat is ridiculous).

What I didn’t expect was how quiet it gets at night, considering you’re right in the city center. The street isn’t a major thoroughfare, so you get that urban convenience without the constant traffic noise. The place itself feels like someone actually lives there – not that sterile hotel vibe where everything’s bolted down and beige. Real books on the shelves, decent coffee setup, shower pressure that doesn’t disappoint. I stayed there during the Christmas market season, which is absolutely chaotic in Strasbourg, but coming back to this little refuge after fighting crowds all day felt perfect. The 8.6 rating makes sense – it’s not luxury, and the stairs might annoy some people, but for what it is and where it is, it punches above its weight. If you’re the type who wants to actually experience Strasbourg instead of just checking boxes from a hotel room across town, this works really well.

  L'emplacement est presque idéal à 5 minutes à pied de la gare dans un sens et 5 minutes de la Petite France dans l'autre. La rue est en outre calme.
  L'appartement est propre, joli et bien équipé.
  Le canapé est confortable.
  La literie est dans l'ensemble très confortable.
  La salle de bain est belle et fonctionnelle.

  Les 4 étages à monter sont un point à prendre en compte.
  La hauteur sous plafond est très limitée (mais ça fait parti des caractéristiques intéressantes à "l'harmonie des combles")

  Die Vermieterin war sehr freundlich, hat schnell und zeitnah auf unsere Nachrichten geantwortet und sich um unsere Anliegen gekümmert.
  Die Wohnung war sauber, gepflegt und gemütlich eingerichtet.
  Gut ausgestattete Küche und Zimmer.
  Die Lage ist super, nur wenige Gehminuten in die Altstadt und zum Bahnhof.
  Trotz der zentralen Lage war es Nachts ruhig, so dass wir gut durchschlafen konnten.
  Wir haben uns wohl gefühlt 🙂
  
  What could be improved: Da wir mitten im Sommer gebucht haben, war es im Dachgeschoss auch Nachts sehr warm.
  Bei normalen Temperaturen ist es besrimmt kein Problem.

  Appartamento con cucina, camera matrimoniale, salone e bagno su un piano e camera con 2 letti singoli in mansarda (può essere molto simpatico per chi va con i figli). La posizione è ottima, tra la stazione ed il centro, con molti locali e negozi nei dintorni e facilità di raggiungere tutti i maggiori punti turistici a piedi. La strada e l'appartamento sono tranquilli. Sono a disposizione i condimenti essenziali per cucinare e caffè per la colazione. L'host Maryline è cordiale e risponde sempre prontamente. Non ci siamo mai incontrati ma invia messaggi per invitare a contattarla in caso di bisogno.
  
  What could be improved: L'appartamento si trova al quarto piano senza ascensore; per noi andava bene perchè avevamo solo lo zaino ma può essere un po' svantaggioso per chi ha delle valigie o per persone anziane. L'androne e la scala avrebbero bisogno di una rinnovata (ma questa è una questione condominiale) e le finestre di una pulita. Come quasi tutti gli appartamenti in Alsazia non ha l'aria condizionata e d'estate deve essere caldissimo (già lo era in questo periodo). Vengono forniti 2 ventilatori ma sono molto rumorosi. Quando prenotate attenzione al fatto che c'è l'opzione che con un piccolo pagamento extra viene data la possibilità di "check in anticipato + check in tardivo + internet veloce"…. In realtà il check in è in ogni caso alle 16 e l'appartamento non ha la connessione internet per cui il pagamento extra è inutile. Di questo extra l'host mi ha detto di non sapere nulla, di conseguenza immagino che sia un errore di Booking (magari lo hanno inserito alla struttura sbagliata). Purtroppo non ho trovato il modo di allegare gli screenshots nella messaggistica di Booking. Non mi importa del rimborso (sono solo pochi euro) ma penso che sia giusto che Booking corregga questi errori (nella descrizione dell'appartamento è effettivamente specificato che non c'è internet, ma questa opzione in fase di prenotazione può trarre in inganno)….
