Look, I’ve stayed in my share of Strasbourg apartments, and L’Escapade Urbaine actually gets it right. The name’s a bit fancy for what’s basically a really well-done three-room setup on Rue du Vieil-Hôpital, but honestly? The location alone makes this place worth booking. You’re literally a five-minute walk from the cathedral – I mean, you can practically hear the bells from the windows, which sounds romantic until you realize they ring every quarter hour. But you know what, it’s Strasbourg, so you embrace it.

The apartment itself feels like someone’s actual home, not some sterile vacation rental. There’s this lived-in charm that’s hard to fake – maybe it’s the way the morning light hits the kitchen table, or how the floorboards creak just enough to remind you you’re in a centuries-old building. The three rooms are laid out thoughtfully too. I appreciated having a proper living space separate from the bedroom, especially since the sofa is actually comfortable enough to sprawl on with a bottle of Riesling from the Cave des Hospices down the street (locals’ secret – skip the touristy wine shops). The kitchen’s compact but functional, and they’ve stocked it with decent basics, which honestly saved me from hunting down a grocery store after that long train ride from Paris.

Here’s what I really liked – the host clearly knows the neighborhood. There’s a little notebook with actual useful recommendations, not just the obvious stuff. They pointed me toward this tiny bakery on Rue des Juifs that opens at 6 AM and sells out of their almond croissants by 9. Also mentioned that parking on the street is free on Sundays, which saved me about twenty euros. The building itself is quiet enough, though you’ll hear some footsteps from upstairs if you’re a light sleeper. The shower pressure is solid – better than half the hotels I’ve tried in the city center, actually. One small thing though, the Wi-Fi gets a bit spotty in the bedroom, but it’s fine everywhere else. I spent most evenings at that little table by the window anyway, watching people navigate the narrow cobblestones below while planning the next day’s wandering. The whole setup just works, you know? It’s got that 8.4 rating for good reason – not perfect, but the kind of place that makes you want to extend your stay an extra night.

  Near the center, restaurants, museums. Public transportation very near.
  
  What could be improved: Is a traffic-free courtyard but it is noisy because of the restaurant next to the apartment and the delivery trucks early in the morning.

  The property was perfectly situated, well appointed and very comfortable for our needs. It was very clean and spacious with the right amenities. Very good WiFi.

  Spacious apartment in a perfect charming location, near everything and in the center of the old town.
  Although in a busy touristic area, it is in a pedestrian street that is generally quiet.
  The apartment has all the necessary amenities and equipment. Checking-in and out was smooth and easy. all the necessary information was provided well in advance. The managing company provided useful tips and information.
  
  What could be improved: The hall and stairs at the entry of the building were not clean, nor the patio in from of the kitchen window, which did not give a good impression to start with. However, the apartment itself was very clean, except for the veranda.
  Decoration of the apartment could be better – a mix of styles, with no particular charm, but confortable.

  It was nice that the instructions were also emailed an English – very easy upon arrival. Quirky yet charming little apartment, not fancy but completely comfortable – even had Netflix!
  
  What could be improved: The kitchen has absolutely no spices, condiments or anything in it. Be forewarned. So for one week stay was a bit of a challenge. Would’ve really loved it if someone would’ve cleaned the inside and outside of the wrap around window/doors anytime this year. They were so filthy both inside and outside that you could barely see out of them and it really spoiled the view. I would’ve cleaned them myself, but there were no cleaning products. I kept most of them open, so it wasn’t a big deal – but the terraces were equally in need of care. Besides that – the apartment was comfortable and in the perfect location.

  What could be improved: Showerhead fixing should be adjusted, as now the showerhead turns into the wall and does not reach the body while taking a shower.
  The shower pipes need to be unclogged, as the water does not easily leave the shower basin.
