Hotel Description
Okay, so I’ll be honest – when I first saw the name “L’Appart du Quai avec Terrasse,” I was expecting something pretty standard. But walking up to 2B quai Schoepflin, you immediately get why this place has a 9.3 rating. It’s right there on the waterfront, and I mean *right there* – you can literally hear the Ill River lapping against the quay from your window. The building itself has that classic Strasbourg thing going on, you know, where it looks like it’s been there forever but someone clearly put serious money into making it gorgeous.
The apartment setup is actually brilliant because it doesn’t feel like a hotel at all. You’ve got your own little slice of Strasbourg life, complete with a kitchen that’s way better equipped than most rentals (they even had decent coffee, which – let’s be real – isn’t always a given in France). But here’s the thing that really got me: the terrace. I mean, everyone mentions it in the name, but until you’re sitting out there with a glass of Riesling watching the sunset bounce off the cathedral spires in the distance, you don’t really get it. It’s one of those spots where you end up canceling dinner reservations because you just can’t bring yourself to leave.
Location-wise, you’re about a fifteen-minute walk to the cathedral and all the tourist chaos, but the quai itself is surprisingly quiet – especially in the evenings when the day-trippers head back to their buses. I was worried about river noise or early morning joggers, but honestly, it’s more peaceful than my apartment back home. The Schoepflin quai isn’t one of the main drags, so you get that local neighborhood feel without being stuck in the middle of nowhere. There’s a decent boulangerie maybe three minutes away (turn left when you leave, you can’t miss it), and if you need groceries, there’s a Monoprix within walking distance. Parking was actually easier than I expected – there are spots along the river, though I’d probably book a space in advance if you’re coming during Christmas market season because, well, good luck with that.
What really sets this place apart is the attention to detail that you only notice after you’ve been in a hundred mediocre accommodations. The shower pressure is fantastic, the Wi-Fi actually works, and someone clearly thought about lighting because you’re not squinting to read at night or dealing with harsh overhead bulbs. The whole place feels like someone’s well-loved pied-à-terre rather than a rental property, if that makes sense. My only tiny complaint? The stairs are a bit steep (it’s an older building), so maybe pack light or be prepared for a little workout with your suitcase.
Honestly, this is the kind of place that makes you understand why people fall in love with Strasbourg. You’re living like a local but with all the comfort of a really good hotel, and that terrace – I keep coming back to it – makes you feel like you’ve got the best seat in the city.
Visitors often choose Strasbourg apartments over traditional hotels because they provide more space, kitchen facilities, and the opportunity to live like a local in this magnificent European capital.

A very good apartment for visiting Strasbourg – Allan from Australia – 7 April 2025 (10/10)
The apartment ticked every box for our 4 day stay in Strasbourg. Although it is located at the northern tip of the island, it is a comfortable walking distance from the main sites of interest and shopping streets. Situated on the quay, we had a lovely view of the river. It is very spacious, comfortable, clean and well appointed. Yes, there are three flights of stairs and no lift, but this proved not to be a major concern, especially as the stairs are wide.
What could be improved: Nothing.Exception department and the beautiful city would absolutely recommend – Alex from United Kingdom – 10 March 2025 (9/10)
Really lovely location on the quayside and a traditional architecture/style with plenty of character. The apartment was a good size and the terrace got lots of sunshine. It also was nicely furnished and felt like a real home rather than a generic serviced apartment. Eric and his team were very responsive and helpful both before our day and during.
What could be improved: Some of the utensils in the kitchen were missing or a bit old and we couldn’t lock the door to the terrace.Exceptional – Anthea from Australia – 16 January 2025 (10/10)
Great location & apartment.

What could be improved: The stairsGreat accomodation for our family. – Jonnyc from Canada – 15 April 2024 (10/10)
Wonderful, spacious accommodation in a perfect spot in the old town. Loved sitting on the balcony enjoying the sun. Close to all amenities but quiet at night. Only a short 5 min walk from public parking (at the mall) where we left our car multiple nights without any issues. Our only regret was that we were only there for 3 nights.
What could be improved: No complaints!
