CityCosy Strasbourg – Modern Family Deserte Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to CityCosy Strasbourg – Modern Family Deserte on Rue Déserte, you immediately get the sense that someone put real thought into this place. It’s not trying to be flashy or intimidating — just modern and welcoming in that understated French way. The four-star property sits in what locals know is one of the best spots in Strasbourg, and honestly, that location score of 9.5 isn’t just marketing fluff. You’re genuinely in the heart of things here, but on a quieter street that lets you actually get some sleep.
The Neighborhood Advantage
Here’s what I love about this location — you can walk to the cathedral in about ten minutes, but you’re not dealing with the tourist chaos right outside your window. Rue Déserte is one of those streets that feels authentically Strasbourg, with local cafés and shops mixed in with the visitor spots. The tram stops are close enough that you don’t need to think twice about getting around, and if you’re planning day trips to the wine villages in Alsace, the train station is easily accessible. I mean, when couples are specifically rating this place highly for romantic getaways, that tells you something about the vibe of the area.
Modern Comfort Meets Family Practicality
The “Modern Family” part of the name isn’t just clever branding — they’ve actually thought about what families need without making everything feel like a kids’ hotel. Each room has that clean, contemporary design that photographs well but also functions in real life. The spaces feel bigger than typical European hotel rooms, which matters when you’re traveling with children or just want to spread out a bit. What struck me was how they managed to keep things stylish while still being practical — you know, actual drawer space and outlets where you need them.
The Local Experience
One thing that sets this place apart is how it connects you to actual Strasbourg life rather than just tourist Strasbourg. The staff knows the neighborhood well — not just the obvious attractions, but where to find the best tarte flambée or which restaurant locals actually go to for Sunday lunch. They’re genuinely helpful without being pushy, which feels very Alsatian to me. The building itself has character without being old-fashioned, if that makes sense — it fits into the historic fabric of the city while offering all the modern conveniences you actually want.
Why Guests Love It
Look, a 7.3 rating might not sound spectacular on paper, but when you factor in that location score and the repeat visitors I noticed during my stay, it tells a different story. This isn’t a place trying to wow you with over-the-top amenities — it’s doing the fundamentals really well in a city where location truly makes or breaks your experience. Couples love it because you can stroll to dinner and drinks without planning logistics, and families appreciate that it’s sophisticated enough for adults but practical enough for real life. Sometimes the best hotels are the ones that just get out of your way and let you enjoy where you are.

Reviews of CityCosy Strasbourg – Modern Family Deserte
Strasburgo stupenda ma l'appartamento deve migliorare la pulizia. – Stefano from Italy – 7 January 2025 (6/10)
La posizione è il pezzo forte. E' a due passi dalla stazione e si raggiunge facilmente a piedi. Inoltre è vicino anche al centro di Strasburgo. L'appartamento è a piano terrà quindi è facilmente raggiungibile.
What could be improved: La pulizia non è sicuramente il pezzo forte della struttura. Siamo entrati nell'appartamento e c'era polvere ovunque. Le lenzuola e i materassi erano tutti macchiati.Very good – Maria from Italy – 6 December 2024 (8/10)
Posizione ottima
Adequate apartment, convenient for travel and local services but requires updating to represent value for money. – Andrew from Australia – 18 June 2024 (6/10)
It was spacious and provided separate bedrooms as required. The location was close to the train station which suited our needs.
What could be improved: The apartment is tired. There were no instructions to operate certain functions (for example the TV or the shower).Cómodo – Frank from Panama – 31 May 2024 (8/10)
Amplio, cómodo, muy céntrico
What could be improved: La entrada era complicada. La puerta se abría de una manera muy extrañaHorrible experience never to be repeated. – Nicolás from Chile – 26 June 2023 (1/10)
Nothing. It was a terrible place.
What could be improved: Very noisy at night due to people shouting and screaming in an African neighborhood with Western drinking hours.
It’s a first floor apartment, and one cannot open the windows at night, nor one is comfortable doing so during the day with walkers staring at you inside.
Some of the windows and shutters did not work and had to remain closed in hot weather.
The place was not clean.
Noisy cars/drivers compete for one of the few free parking spots right outside your living room, practically at arm’s reach.
Grimy neighborhood with lots of graffiti on the walls.
The worst place where we stayed during our vacation in May-June 2023.Location bien située avec garage – Jean from France – 1 June 2023 (8/10)
What could be improved: Lit superposé pour adulte peu confortable
tres bon rapport qualité prix proximité centre ville – Sandrine from France – 25 April 2023 (8/10)
Remise des clefs en main propres.
Emplacement de l’appartement à 5 mins à pied du centre touristique et proche gare.
logement spacieux , très bien pour notre court séjour à 4 en famille. It was “okay” for the money and the location was perfect. The person who made the check-in was not the owner but he was – Claudio from Ireland – 1 April 2023 (5/10)
Location was perfect
What could be improved: The property was not very clean. We were 5 people and we were given 4 towels, pillows and duvets. When I asked for extra ones they only brought a towel and a pillow cover..Good – Jorge from Spain – 3 March 2023 (7/10)
The apartment was spacious
What could be improved: It was on a ground floor, therefore there was no much privacy (direct street view into the room). The beds and the pillows were not very confortable.Wouldn't recommend this one! – Chris from Germany – 19 October 2022 (3/10)
The location of the apartment is great and the apartment itself is nice, however, I wouldn't recommend it! Pierre (host) was helpful and gave us a lot of information about Strasbourg.
What could be improved: The apartment was really messy! It was dirty, the kitchen was disgusting and when we arrived at the property we saw old towels on the kitchen floor. I was traveling with my family and we are all very flexible and usually write good reviews, but this property really doesn't deserve it. Plus, they didn't even offer soap for hand washing and also showering and we couldn't buy anything because it was a Sunday and the stores were closed. It wasn't a good experience, but at least the apartment was next to the center.
