Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw “La Suite du Bouchon” tucked into this narrow street near the cathedral, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The name alone had me curious (bouchon means cork, which seems random until you realize the owner probably has a thing for wine). But honestly? This little apartment-style spot turned out to be one of those finds that makes you feel like you actually discovered something in Strasbourg instead of just staying at another generic hotel.
The location is what really got me – Rue du Jeu-des-Enfants literally means “children’s games street,” and you can picture medieval kids running around these cobblestones centuries ago. You’re basically a three-minute stumble from the cathedral, which means you’ll hear the bells (charming at 9 AM, less so at 6 AM if you’re a light sleeper). But here’s the thing – being this central usually means tourist trap territory, and somehow this place manages to feel more like staying at a friend’s apartment than a hotel. The suite itself is surprisingly spacious for European standards, with this quirky mix of modern touches and old Alsatian character. I mean, the beams are definitely original, and there’s something satisfying about having a proper kitchen when you want to grab fresh bread from the boulangerie around the corner instead of paying hotel breakfast prices.
What I really appreciated was how the owner clearly knows the neighborhood – there were these handwritten notes about which direction to walk for the best late-night tarte flambée (toward Petite France, not the touristy spots near the cathedral), and where to find parking that won’t cost you 20 euros a day. Speaking of parking, yeah, it’s a bit of a dance in this area, but that’s true anywhere in the old town. The 7.8 rating feels about right – it’s not luxury, but it’s got personality and doesn’t try to be something it’s not. There were a few minor things, like the shower pressure being a bit weak and the Wi-Fi cutting out occasionally, but nothing that ruined the experience. You know what really sold me though? On my last morning, I could smell coffee and pastries from three different cafés just by opening the windows, and I realized I’d rather have that than perfect plumbing and generic hotel continental breakfast. If you’re the type who wants to feel like you’re actually staying in Strasbourg instead of just visiting it, this is your spot.

Cute city center apartment 10 minutes walk to the station. – Indrani from United Kingdom – 24 December 2023 (9/10)
Superb location tastefully decorated.
What could be improved: Bathroom sink needs attending.
Several keys to get into the property – almost like a treasure hunt. 🙂Value for money at good location – Michael from Australia – 19 May 2025 (9/10)
Location , had all necessary amenities and reasonable price
What could be improved: Minor maintenance issuesCozy with a good location – Lisa from United States – 2 December 2023 (8/10)
Great location. Enjoyed having room to spread out and relax. Nice large bathroom and a washer!
What could be improved: The sofa was not great as the cushions would not stay in place. The bed was only a double so small for us. They only provide a very small amount of coffee.Dirty and stained – huge deposit required. Otherwise ok – Julie from United States – 7 February 2024 (7/10)
Beautiful apartment which has been well decorated and has all the facilities needed – great kitchen- laundry-bathtub! Great location.
What could be improved: Décor is so aged – the sofa has so many stains – and the pillows are so old and misshapen they won’t stay on! I can’t believe they still have this sofa as it’s obviously been here many decades. Lots of scuffs stains and dings and holes, and yet they charge you this huge deposit and act like you’re staying at the royal palace! All of the requirements after booking and before check in are just ridiculous. I’ve NEVER had to do this and I travel internationally very often! Going forward- They need to take a couple thousand euro and revitalize this apartment. It could be absolutely wonderful but it just seems like a dump because of all of the stains. They also need to stop with the incessant emails and requests for deposit before check in.Great location and comfortable, unresponsive agency managing the property – Ignacio from France – 9 April 2024 (5/10)
Great location, very confortable.
What could be improved: This property is managed by a rental agency. They require you to use their platform, on top of booking com, for a 500 EUR bail, so you have to enter your credit card on their website which had invalid SSL certificates – an unsafe connection. Communication with the host was difficult. The host did not answer half of my messages either though booking com, their own platform, and did not answer the phone on several occasions. I could not pay the 500 EUR bail because of the certificate, in the end they sent me a link via SMS to yet another platform. In the end this worked out. Lastly, because of the lack of communication, I could not book the 60 EUR early check-in, the host just did not reply to my messages. Not satisfied – Dan from Romania – 6 January 2025 (1/10)
What could be improved: Our kid stroller was stolen from inside the staircase, which is located 3 locked doors away from the street. Not the owner's fault, but really inconvenient.
Who steals a stroller? Crazy.
Super loud area, with a gambling bar across the street.
For us, it is not suitable for families.Gerne wieder – Alex04105 from Germany – 3 February 2025 (8/10)
Very good – Hatice from France – 7 January 2024 (8/10)
Ev geniş, dekorasyonu güzel ve ferah. Şehir merkezine çok yakın. Aileler için uygun.
What could be improved: Salondaki koltuk minderleri eksi ve oturunca kayıyor.
What could be improved: Le radiateur du couloir faisait du bruit.
What could be improved: Nous déplorons :
l'inconfort de l'assise et l'état très médiocre du canapé (usure et tâches)
Les 4 coupes de champagne dépareillées
1 seul sac poubelle (trop juste pour 3 jours)
Autres petits détails d'usure du logement pouvant sembler insignifiant mais qui, au prix de la location, méritent d'être signalés
