So here’s the thing about La Madeleine de Proust – and yes, they actually named it after that Marcel Proust, which makes sense once you see the address on Route Marcel Proust. It’s this charming three-room apartment setup that honestly feels more like staying at a well-traveled friend’s place than a typical hotel. You know what I mean? The kind of spot where someone clearly put thought into the details without trying too hard.

The location is actually pretty brilliant if you know Strasbourg at all. You’re in this quiet residential pocket that’s far enough from the tourist madness around the cathedral, but still close enough that you can walk to the Petite France area without breaking a sweat. The parking situation – and this is huge for anyone who’s tried to park in Strasbourg’s old town – is included, which saved me probably 20 euros a day and a lot of frustrated circling around cobblestone streets. The apartment itself has this lived-in elegance thing going on, with proper French shutters that actually block out the light (thank god, because summer mornings here start early) and windows that open wide enough to let in that cool evening air.

What really got me was the kitchen setup – it’s not just some token mini-fridge and hot plate situation. I mean, you could actually cook a proper meal here if you wanted to hit up one of those amazing markets near Place du Marché aux Poissons. The beds are comfortable in that European way where the linens feel expensive but not fussy, and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without living out of a suitcase. Honestly, after staying in some pretty cramped Strasbourg hotels, having three actual rooms felt luxurious. The whole place has this quiet, almost bookish atmosphere – maybe it’s the Proust connection, or maybe it’s just the neighborhood, but it’s the kind of place where you actually want to sit and plan your day over coffee instead of rushing out immediately. The 8.3 rating makes sense because while everything works well and it’s genuinely comfortable, it’s not trying to be flashy or over-the-top. Sometimes that’s exactly what you want, especially if you’re planning to spend your days wandering around the European Parliament area or getting lost in the winding streets around Rue des Frères.

  This was a beautiful apartment and had all we needed and more. In a quiet neighbourhood and close to stores and, best of all, a local boulangerie. We had a bit of difficulty finding the place as is was dark when we arrived. A larger address number on the building might help but this may be beyond the owner's power.
  We would suggest letting renters know the tram is close and easy to take in the center of the city and saved us from have to drive in a city we are not familiar with and pay for parking.
  Over all, stay here…you'll like the place and the amenities. We were very happy and comfortable there.

  Appartamento spazioso, pulito e di recente ristrutturazione. Dista circa 10/15 minuti di auto dal centro. Il posto auto è privato. Il WC si trova in un ambiente separato dal bagno con lavandino e doccia. Gentile da parte del proprietario faci trovare il caffè e 4 piccole madleines.

  Nous avons apprécier l'ensemble des prestations de l'appartement pour nous c'est un sans faute d'autant qu'un des critères important pour nous c'est la présence d'un garage et d'une place de stationnement et enfin bien sûr la proximité du tram.
