Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about Hotel Suisse? It’s tucked away on this narrow little street called Rue De La Rape that honestly feels more residential than touristy – which is actually perfect if you ask me. I mean, you’re literally a five-minute walk from the cathedral and all the main tourist stuff, but when you step outside in the morning, you’re watching locals grab their baguettes instead of dodging tour groups with selfie sticks. The building itself has that classic Alsatian charm without being too precious about it, and the entrance is understated in a way that makes you feel like you’ve discovered something rather than just booked another generic hotel.
The rooms are what I’d call “properly sized” for Europe – not huge, but thoughtfully laid out so nothing feels cramped. Mine had this great view toward the old town, and honestly, the windows are better soundproofed than I expected given how close you are to everything. The beds are actually comfortable (you’d be surprised how often that’s not a given), and there’s this attention to small details that really shows – good lighting for reading, enough outlets where you need them, decent water pressure in the shower. I stayed during summer when Strasbourg gets pretty busy, but the staff never seemed frazzled, and check-in was refreshingly straightforward. The breakfast room has this lovely morning light, and while it’s not fancy, everything feels fresh and well-sourced… you can tell they care about doing the basics really well rather than trying to impress you with unnecessary extras.
What really sold me on this place, though, is how it sits in the neighborhood. You’re close enough to walk everywhere that matters – the Petite France district, the European Parliament area if that’s your thing, tons of excellent restaurants – but far enough from the main drags that you actually get some peace in the evenings. There’s street parking if you’re driving (though honestly, you won’t need a car once you’re here), and I noticed the tram stop is just a few blocks away if you want to explore further out. The whole experience feels authentic rather than polished for tourists, if that makes sense. It’s the kind of place where you end up staying longer than planned because everything just… works. For a three-star hotel pulling an 8.8 rating, that tells you something – people aren’t expecting luxury, but they’re getting genuine quality and that personal touch that makes you want to come back to Strasbourg just to stay here again.
To book a hotel in Strasbourg during the famous Christmas Market season, visitors should make reservations well in advance as the city attracts holiday enthusiasts and culture lovers from around the world.

Traditional hotel, very pretty and quiet, slept very well. Excellent location for everything, near all the restaurants and cafes, cathedral just around the corner, lovely to hear the bells chiming. Staff very friendly and approachable, excellent buffet breakfast was included. I would definitely stay here again, felt sad to leave.

Central location, easy to come and go
What could be improved: There’s nothing to dislike, we knew we had a smaller room on top floor not facing the cathedral, big it was comfortable and a good price. We appreciated the lifts!Overnight stop on way home through Europe. – Christine from United Kingdom – 15 June 2025 (9/10)
The location of this hotel was superb. We were overlooking the cathedral which was literally yards away. We were upgraded free of charge to a larger room and were given clear instructions about parking before we arrived. Strasbourg itself was wonderful. Wish we’d had longer there.
