Hotel Description

Look, I’ve stayed at my fair share of hotels in Strasbourg, and Hôtel LÉONOR caught me completely off guard – in the best possible way. You know that feeling when you’re expecting just another decent place to crash, but then you walk into something that actually has personality? That’s exactly what happened here on Rue de la Nuée-Bleue. The street name translates to “Blue Cloud Street,” which honestly sounds way more poetic than it has any right to, but somehow it fits this place perfectly.

The location is honestly brilliant, though you might miss it if you’re not paying attention since it sits quietly between the more obvious tourist traps. You’re literally a five-minute walk from the cathedral – I mean, you can practically hear the bells from your room – but you’re tucked away enough that you don’t get the constant stream of tour groups stomping past your window at 7 AM. The building itself has this understated elegance that feels authentically Strasbourg rather than trying too hard to be Instagram-perfect. Inside, they’ve managed to nail that tricky balance between modern comfort and respecting the original architecture. The rooms are thoughtfully designed – not huge by American standards, but cleverly laid out so nothing feels cramped. I particularly loved how they incorporated local touches without going overboard with the Alsatian kitsch you see everywhere else.

What really sets LÉONOR apart, though, is how it feels like the staff actually cares about what they’re doing. Check-in was smooth (they speak excellent English if your French is rusty), and they gave me genuinely useful recommendations, not just the standard tourist checklist. The woman at reception told me about this tiny winstub around the corner that I never would have found otherwise – best choucroute I had during my entire stay. The neighborhood comes alive in the evenings when locals head out for dinner, so there’s this nice energy without being rowdy. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle in this part of the city, but they’ll help you figure out the closest public garage, and honestly, once you’re settled in, everything you want to see is walkable anyway. The only minor thing I’d mention is that some rooms face the courtyard while others look onto the street, so if you’re a light sleeper, maybe ask about that when you book. But even the street-facing rooms weren’t particularly noisy – this isn’t exactly the Champs-Élysées. I left feeling like I’d discovered something special rather than just checked another hotel off my list, which is rarer than it should be these days.

  • Best location- wonderful feel – Carmen from Austria – 18 July 2025 (9/10)

This is the third time at this property- the location is amazing and we love how they remodeled this old property. Everything is extremely clean and comfortable. They have two bike rooms that are secured. We’re always there in the summer so AC is a must. It’s a very posh place but still has a relaxed feel.

What could be improved: We have an EV and always park in their on-site parking lot right behind the house (for EU35/night). There’s no real plug but they do have one “designated” EV spot where you can use a “normal” plug to charge your car (which of course takes ages). We were there 4 days and were never able to park there- nobody ever used the plug (or was even a EV) and the front desk was super not helpful. Why even have a EV spot when you don’t ask people to move their car once they’re done charging (or let ICE cars park there when there’s other open spots). This is the one annoyance I have because this place is less than 4 years old and they couldn’t figure out that more and more of their clientele wants functioning, electric charging.
