Honestly, F2 Strasbourg surprised me – and I mean that in the best way possible. You know how sometimes you book a 3-star place and mentally prepare yourself for mediocrity? Well, this isn’t one of those situations. The hotel sits on Rue de la Charmille in the Neudorf district, which I’ll admit sounds a bit removed from the action, but actually puts you in this really authentic residential area where you get a proper feel for how Strasbourg locals live.

The first thing that hit me when I walked in was how they’ve managed to make a relatively compact space feel genuinely welcoming – there’s this clean, modern aesthetic without being sterile or trying too hard to be trendy. The staff actually seem to enjoy their jobs, which you’d be amazed how rare that is in mid-range hotels. Check-in was smooth (I arrived around 3 PM on a Tuesday, so maybe I just got lucky with timing), and the person at reception gave me these really useful tips about the tram system – apparently the nearest stop is just a few minutes’ walk and gets you to the cathedral area in about 15 minutes. That local knowledge thing really matters when you’re trying to maximize your time in a city.

What I really appreciated was the attention to practical details that business travelers and families actually care about. The rooms aren’t huge – this is Europe, after all – but they’re thoughtfully laid out with decent storage space and, crucially, reliable wifi that doesn’t cut out every time someone in the next room starts streaming Netflix. The beds are properly comfortable (I’m picky about mattresses), and the bathrooms are modern with good water pressure, though honestly the shower space is a bit snug if you’re particularly tall. There’s air conditioning that actually works, which saved me during an unexpectedly warm September visit. The soundproofing is solid too – Rue de la Charmille isn’t exactly a busy thoroughfare, but I never heard traffic or neighboring rooms, even on weekend nights.

Location-wise, you’re getting the best of both worlds here. Sure, you’re not stumbling distance from the tourist center, but that means you’re also not dealing with tourist center prices and crowds right outside your door. The Neudorf area has some genuinely good local restaurants – there’s this excellent Alsatian place called Au Pont du Corbeau about a 10-minute walk away that locals actually frequent. Plus, if you’re driving, parking here is infinitely less stressful than trying to navigate the old town’s narrow streets and expensive garage fees.

The 7.8 rating feels about right – it’s not trying to be luxury, but it executes the fundamentals really well. I’d definitely stay here again, especially for longer trips when you want a reliable home base without paying premium prices for location you might not even use that much. It’s the kind of place where you check in, immediately feel settled, and can focus on actually exploring Strasbourg instead of dealing with hotel hassles.

  Dobrá lokalita, taxíkem za 13 euro do centra.

  Povlečení vypadalo pomačkané a nevyprané, nicméně majitel tvrdil že je vyprané.
