Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Courtine? The name actually makes perfect sense once you’re there – it really is this surprisingly quiet pocket right in the heart of Strasbourg. I mean, you’re literally a few minutes’ walk from the cathedral and all that tourist chaos, but somehow this little street (rue de la Courtine) feels like it exists in its own bubble.

The building itself has that classic Alsatian thing going on, though honestly, it’s more understated than some of the flashier places you’ll see plastered all over Instagram. It’s a solid 3-star that doesn’t try to be something it’s not, which I actually appreciated. The rooms are clean and comfortable – nothing fancy, but the beds are decent and you’ll sleep well, especially since the street stays pretty quiet even on weekends. I was worried about noise being so central, but apart from the occasional early morning delivery truck, it’s genuinely peaceful. The 7.4 rating feels about right; it’s not going to blow your mind, but it does exactly what it promises.

What I really liked was how easy it made exploring the city on foot. You can walk to Petite France in maybe 15 minutes, and the tram stops are close enough that you don’t need to think twice about heading out to the European Parliament area or wherever. The neighborhood has this lived-in feel too – there’s a decent boulangerie just around the corner (honestly better than some of the touristy ones near the cathedral), and you’ll see actual Strasbourg residents going about their day, not just clusters of tour groups. Check-in was straightforward, though if you’re arriving late, definitely give them a heads up. The staff speaks English well enough, but they seemed genuinely happy when I attempted my terrible French – you know how it is in these smaller family-run type places. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle if you’re driving, but that’s pretty much everywhere in this part of town. I’d say if you’re looking for somewhere that lets you experience Strasbourg like you’re actually staying in the city rather than just passing through, this works really well. It’s not luxury, but it’s authentic and practical, and sometimes that’s exactly what you want.

Early hotels booking in Strasbourg is essential during major events like the Christmas Market, as accommodations fill up quickly with visitors eager to experience the city’s renowned festive atmosphere and Gothic architecture.

Reviews

  • Very good – Guðni from Iceland – 11 October 2024 (8/10)

    Location, price and the kitchen

What could be improved: To pick up the keys and put them again in th key cafe.

  • Excellent location, no-frills accommodation – Tristan from United Kingdom – 30 January 2024 (7/10)

Excellent location – easy to reach European institutions, historical centre and restaurants.

What could be improved: The property is more or less in the basement so in winter was darker than the pictures suggest.

The description on booking.com says the flat is on the first floor – it’s not, it’s on the ground floor, and hence the directions you receive once you get the keys are confusing.

  • Perfect location to go to alliance française, comfortable, staic cool in the hot season in summer – Anonymous from Switzerland – 11 July 2025 (8/10)

    High practical value, space

What could be improved: Just a few little things, lid of toilet was loose and waste bin didn‘t open properly.

  • Très bien – Nathalie from France – 14 May 2025 (7/10)

L’emplacement est vraiment l’atout essentiel de ce logement.
Il est placé tout à proximité des transports et du centre historique.
La cuisine est très bien équipée.

What could be improved: Un petit bémol au niveau de la luminosité et la vue.

  • très bien – Olivier from France – 18 October 2024 (7/10)

l'emplacement est parfait et l'appartement parfait pour un court séjour

What could be improved: la douche fuit (joint décollé au bas du bac, obligé d'éponger à chaque fois)

  • Good – Guillaume from France – 13 January 2024 (7/10)

    Emplacement.

What could be improved: Pas de café à disposition. Lit qui grince beaucoup.
