Hotel Description

You know what hits you first at Cour du Corbeau? The courtyard. I mean, you walk through this unassuming entrance on Rue des Couples and suddenly you’re standing in this gorgeous stone courtyard that feels like you’ve stepped back about 400 years. The hotel’s actually built around a 16th-century inn – and honestly, they’ve done something pretty special with the restoration. It’s not one of those places where they’ve scrubbed away all the character in the name of luxury.

The location is genuinely perfect if you want to explore Strasbourg properly. You’re maybe a three-minute walk from Place Kléber, and the cathedral’s spire is literally visible from some of the upper floor windows. What I really appreciated though was how quiet it gets at night – Rue des Couples isn’t one of those streets where you’ll hear people stumbling back from the winstubs at 2 AM. The rooms themselves have this interesting mix going on where you’ve got exposed beams and stone walls (the real deal, not fake rustic stuff) paired with actually comfortable modern furniture. The beds are solid – I’m talking proper sleep, not that too-soft hotel bed nonsense that leaves you with a backache.

Here’s something you won’t find in most hotel descriptions: the staff actually knows Strasbourg. I asked about finding a good tarte flambée place that wasn’t completely overrun with tourists, and the woman at reception didn’t just hand me a generic list – she gave me specific timing advice for Au Pont Corbeau (go before 7 PM or after 9:30 PM) and even mentioned which baker on Grand’Rue has the best kougelhopf. The breakfast situation is well handled too, though it’s not cheap – but then again, nothing in central Strasbourg really is. They’ve got local stuff mixed in with the standard hotel fare, and the coffee’s actually decent, which… you’d be surprised how many four-star places mess that up. If you’re visiting during Christmas market season (which, let’s be honest, is when most people come to Strasbourg), book way ahead – this place fills up fast, and for good reason. The 9.2 rating isn’t inflated marketing; it’s one of those hotels where the small details actually work, from the lighting in the bathrooms to the fact that the WiFi doesn’t cut out every twenty minutes.

  • Exceptional – Teresa from United Kingdom – 24 July 2025 (10/10)

Beautiful historic building with modern facilities located right in the heart of the old city. No restaurant but lots of fabulous places nearby to choose from. Exceptional breakfast – venue, food choices and freshness, lovely friendly service. Would highly recommend.

  • Excellent short stay! – Dmi3y from Italy – 17 July 2025 (10/10)

The location is very convenient if you are arriving by car. The hotel provided all the details on how to arrive, where to park including the discount for the secured and covered parking beforehand. The room was spacious and super clean, had all the amenities needed and complimentary Nespresso coffee, tea and water were much appreciated. We also greatly appreciated the staff's courtesy and availability on all our requests. The breakfast was good with big variety of cold and menu with hot dishes if anyone interested, though we would appreciate more vegan options e.g., pastries, yoghurt, etc. The bed was super comfy and we had a great sleep, also with very quiet environment despite the central location.

The hotel provide discount for the parking and various tours, which was nice. We also borrowed umbrellas and we could leave the luggage for a couple of hours with no problem. The marmalade greeting gift from the staff was a nice touch too!

Definitely would recommend and will stay again if find great deals as it is a little pricey.

What could be improved: There is no much really, but the internal beautiful courtyard probably need some refreshing touch as we were looking forward to to see its beauty, but found it rather lacking some attention/maintenance e.g., flowers and plants, etc.

The staff are all very friendly and helpful too.

    What could be improved: Nothing.

Beautiful character building in central location. Spacious, well appointed rooms. Lovely staff.

What could be improved: Shower wasn’t great but probably limited by constraints of old building.
