Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about this place? The address – Rue des Serruriers – which literally means “locksmiths street,” and honestly, that tells you everything about this neighborhood. It’s one of those authentic Strasbourg streets where locals actually live, not just another tourist trap lined with souvenir shops and overpriced cafés.

The flat itself sits on the second floor (French style, so that’s three flights up for us Americans), and I’ll be straight with you – there’s no elevator. But once you’re up there, you get why it’s worth the climb. The space has this lived-in coziness that you just can’t fake in newer builds. The windows face away from the main pedestrian flow, which means you’re literally in the heart of Petite France area but you can actually sleep at night. I mean, you’ll still hear the occasional late-night reveler stumbling over cobblestones, but it’s more charming than disruptive. The walls are thick enough – this is proper old European construction – that street noise stays where it belongs.

What really won me over was how the owner clearly knows the neighborhood. There’s this little folder with handwritten notes about which boulangerie opens earliest (crucial intel when you want fresh croissants), where to find parking that won’t cost you a fortune, and – this was genius – which route to take to the cathedral that avoids the tour group bottlenecks. The flat feels like staying at a well-traveled friend’s place rather than some sterile rental property. The kitchen actually has proper coffee gear, not just those terrible instant packets, and there’s enough counter space to spread out maps and plan your day without feeling cramped.

Location-wise, you’re about a three-minute walk to Place Kléber, maybe five to the cathedral depending on how distracted you get by the shop windows along the way. But here’s the thing most visitors don’t realize – you’re also perfectly positioned for the less obvious stuff that makes Strasbourg special. That little wine bar on Rue du Bain aux Plantes? Two blocks away. The morning market at Place du Marché aux Poissons where locals actually shop? You can smell the fresh bread from the apartment on Saturday mornings.

The 8.5 rating feels about right – it’s not trying to be a luxury hotel, and you won’t find a concierge or room service. What you get instead is something more valuable for most travelers: a genuine slice of how people actually live in this city. The shower has decent water pressure (always a gamble in old buildings), the wifi works reliably, and there’s enough closet space for a week’s worth of clothes without living out of your suitcase. Small things, maybe, but they add up when you’re trying to feel settled somewhere new.

Honestly, if you’re the type who needs a lobby and daily housekeeping, this isn’t your spot. But if you want to wake up in actual Strasbourg instead of hotel-land, grab your morning coffee from the same place the neighbors do, and feel like you’ve discovered something rather than just booked something – well, that’s exactly what this place delivers.

Apartments in Strasbourg provide travelers with an authentic local experience, allowing them to shop at traditional markets and cook with fresh ingredients from the renowned Alsatian culinary traditions.

Reviews

  • It was a nice relaxing stay, the apartment is well equiped and provide a home away from home. One thing to note it might – Chak-riya from Australia – 20 July 2025 (9/10)

Location, easy check in process, the host and information that Jean-Philippe and Katia provided

  • Exceptional – Ulla from Belgium – 19 June 2025 (10/10)

Absolutely lovely little hide away in the middle of Strasbourg. The hosts send very good instructions before hand, and the place was great. Warmly recommended!

  • Centrally located apartment with rustic charm served all our needs – Maya from United States – 8 June 2025 (8/10)

This centrally located (really excellently located) flat gives a glimpse of the interior of quintessential half timbered houses. Looked like original beams and struts in the house. Floors were renovated and uneven. Had a cool factor. Landlord very helpful and quick to answer questions. For those who aren’t nimble, the small staircase to upper bedroom and bathroom may provide some obstacle.

What could be improved: The linens could use an upgrade but overall the place was comfortable and perfect for those who like stopping in routinely while exploring the city.

  • A lovely time in the centre of Strasbourg – David from United Kingdom – 16 March 2025 (10/10)

Nice clean and very well equipped flat every thing you need for your stay. And the flat was in a great place not far away from little France

  • Charming apartment central to everything – Debbieguy from Australia – 23 September 2024 (9/10)

We loved the position of the apartment. Only a few minutes walk
to everything, cathedral, transport, canal. Great restaurants and patisserie very close (just outside the front door really). The apartment has a very rustic feel housed in a very old building. Amazing feel to it. Spiral staircase to bedroom and bathroom very narrow. We just kept our suitcases downstairs. There's plenty of room. Very, very quiet at night and very comfortable bed.

What could be improved: Not much to not like as long as you are prepared to stay in an old building. Just what we love. Shower rose didn't have anywhere to be hung so a bit difficult but owner says he will rectify this.

  • Great location and very comfortable flat for the price! – Walker from United States – 24 June 2024 (10/10)

    The best location!

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Fantastic location, very helpful host – William from United Kingdom – 8 June 2024 (8/10)

Great location. Easy to walk everywhere of interest.

What could be improved: Room lights a bit dim, but acceptable.

  • Loved it and we were very comfortable – Linda from Australia – 3 March 2024 (8/10)

Location was amazing ! Everything we needed was here! Bed was comfy.

What could be improved: A little squishy in that the ceiling is low in some places including standing in the bath to have a shower and the stairs up to bedroom narrow. But I am reasonably tall.
