You know what’s funny about Cosy Cathédrale? The name actually undersells it. I mean, yeah, it’s cozy – this isn’t some sprawling resort chain – but stepping into this 3-star gem right on Place de la Cathédrale feels like you’ve stumbled into someone’s well-kept secret. The location is honestly ridiculous in the best way possible. You’re literally staring up at one of Europe’s most stunning Gothic cathedrals from your window, and I’m not exaggerating when I say you can hear the cathedral bells marking the hours throughout the day (which is either charming or mildly annoying at 6 AM, depending on your perspective).

What really got me was how the staff seemed to genuinely know Strasbourg inside and out. The woman at the front desk – I think her name was Marie – didn’t just hand me a generic tourist map. She actually marked up this hand-drawn route to the best tarte flambée spot that’s tucked away on Rue du Maroquin, maybe a five-minute walk through those winding cobblestone streets. And she was right, by the way. The rooms themselves have this sort of updated-traditional vibe going on – you’ve got modern bathrooms and decent Wi-Fi, but the exposed wooden beams and those thick stone walls remind you you’re sleeping in a building that’s probably older than your home country. Fair warning though: if you’re staying during peak summer or around the Christmas markets (which, honestly, is when you should visit Strasbourg), book way ahead because this place fills up fast. The locals seem to recommend it to their visiting relatives, which tells you something right there.

Here’s the thing that really sealed it for me – and this might sound small, but it’s not. Every morning, there’s this moment around 8 AM when the light hits the cathedral just right, and you can watch it from the little breakfast area downstairs while you’re having your coffee and croissants. The breakfast isn’t fancy – we’re talking continental, not some elaborate buffet – but sitting there watching early morning joggers and dog walkers cross the square while sipping actual good coffee? That’s the kind of travel moment you remember years later. Plus, you’re within walking distance of everything that matters in Strasbourg. Petite France is maybe ten minutes if you stroll, the European Parliament is a quick tram ride away, and those incredible covered bridges are close enough that you’ll probably walk past them multiple times without even planning to. The only real downside is parking – street parking around the cathedral is pretty much impossible, but there’s a public garage about two blocks away. Small price to pay for waking up in the heart of one of France’s most underrated cities, if you ask me.

  Great location: right in front of the Cathedral, walking distance to Petite France and other landmarks, Tram stops, and even to the central station. Has all amenities you need. What a great last-minute find for the Christmas Market. The host met us in front of the flat and took us in; they are not on site but easy to communicate with.
  
  What could be improved: Not necessarily the negatives, but guests should be aware there are a few flights of stairs to the flat in the building as well as a very narrow and sleep staircase to upstairs in the flat, so large suitcases would be hard to manage. A partially-used small travel size bottle of shampoo should be replaced with a full size one – this is the only complaint we had if I have to find one.

  What could be improved: No es que no me gustara ni que sea malo, solo es una cosa a tener en cuenta para personas con poca movilidad. El alojamiento esta en la tercera planta y al ser un edificio historico y mantener la esencia, tiene escaleras antiguas de madera; y al ser un duplex, en el interior tiene una escalera un poco estrecha para subir a la planta de arriba donde se encuentra la habitación y el baño.
