You know what really struck me about Confort au cœur de Strasbourg? It’s tucked away on Rue des Planches, which honestly sounds fancier than it is – but that’s actually part of its charm. The street is narrow and cobbled (pack light shoes, trust me), and you’re literally a two-minute walk from the cathedral. I mean, you can hear the bells from your room, which is either magical or annoying depending on whether you’re a heavy sleeper.

The hotel itself feels like someone converted an old Alsatian building without trying too hard to make it flashy. The lobby has this worn wooden floor that creaks just enough to feel authentic, and the front desk staff – well, they switch between French and German mid-conversation, which somehow makes perfect sense in Strasbourg. My room was small but thoughtfully arranged, with one of those compact European bathrooms where everything has its exact place. The bed was firmer than what you’d find in American chains, but I slept great. What I really appreciated was the double-glazed windows – essential when you’re this close to the tourist center. During the day you get that lovely cathedral bustle, but at night it actually quiets down more than you’d expect.

Here’s the thing about the location that took me a day to figure out – you’re walking distance from both the German quarter and the old French district, so you can grab a proper pretzel for breakfast and have coq au vin for dinner without breaking a sweat. The Ill River is right there too, and honestly, the evening walk along the water beats any hotel amenities. Parking is… well, it’s Strasbourg’s old town, so good luck with that. There’s a public garage about five minutes away, but I’d recommend just taking the tram in from outside the city if you’re driving. The front desk will give you the whole rundown – they’ve clearly answered the parking question a thousand times. One small thing that bugged me was the Wi-Fi cutting out on the third floor, but it worked fine in the common areas. For a three-star place pulling an 8 rating, it delivers exactly what it promises – a clean, comfortable base in an unbeatable location without any pretense about being something it’s not. Perfect for someone who wants to actually experience Strasbourg rather than hide in a fancy hotel bubble.

  Great location, about 10 minute walk into the centre for the winter Christmas markets, it is about a 10 minute walk (with a suitcase) to the nearest tram station. The bed was almost too comfortable as I did not want to leave to explore I just wanted to stay in bed all day. Bathroom was clean and the bath was nice and warm. The house was very warm (over winter). The kitchen has two electric stoves that are good for cooking. Overall very nice, do recommend as the place to stay in strasbourg if you want an airbnb with a kitchenette

  Die Wohnung liegt in einer guten Lage zur Stadterkundung und ist ruhig. Die Größe und Aufteilung des Appartements ist gut geeignet für 2 Personen. Der Gastgeber war sehr gut erreichbar.
  
  What could be improved: Wir hatten von Anfang an nur kaltes Wasser in der Küche, die dadurch nur sehr eingeschränkt nutzbar war, nur sehr heißes Wasser am Waschbecken im Badezimmer, so dass man das Waschbecken nicht benutzen konnte, das WLAN funktionierte nicht und der Fernseher war ausser Betrieb. Die Mängel wurden während unseres Aufenthalts leider nicht behoben, auch wenn einige der Mängel dem Gastgeber schon vorher bekannt waren.
  
  Die Küche ist nur recht spartanisch eingerichtet.
  
  Die Sauberkeit liess zu wünschen übrig.
