Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to City Résidence Strasbourg Centre on Rue des Magasins, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the unassuming spots surprise you, and this one actually gets the basics really right.
The location is honestly pretty perfect if you want to be in the thick of things without paying Grande Île prices. You’re literally a two-minute walk from Place Kléber (I timed it), and the Christmas market practically spills onto your doorstep in December – which is magical but also means good luck sleeping past 8 AM during market season. The building itself has that classic Alsatian feel without being too precious about it, sort of tucked between a boulangerie and one of those tiny Strasbourg bookshops that smell like old paper and coffee. The rooms are… well, they’re exactly what you’d expect from a mid-range place, but the beds are actually comfortable and the bathrooms work properly, which honestly puts it ahead of some fancier places I’ve stayed. The staff at reception genuinely seem to know the city – I mean, the guy who checked me in drew me a little map showing which tram stops to avoid during rush hour and where to get the best flammekueche that isn’t a tourist trap.
What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night, considering you’re right in the center. The windows do a decent job blocking out street noise, though if you’re a super light sleeper, maybe pack earplugs for weekend nights when the bars on Rue du Maroquin get lively. Parking is the usual Strasbourg nightmare, but there’s a public garage about three blocks away that won’t completely destroy your budget. The breakfast is nothing to write home about – standard continental stuff – but there’s a fantastic café literally next door where the locals actually go, so skip the hotel breakfast and get a proper croissant and café au lait for half the price. I spent most mornings there watching Strasbourg wake up, which was honestly one of my favorite parts of the stay. The 7.7 rating makes sense to me – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it does everything you need it to do without any major headaches, and in a city where hotel prices can get pretty ridiculous, especially during European Parliament sessions, it’s solid value for money.

Reviews
Quite happy with it – Patricia from United Kingdom – 23 July 2025 (8/10)
Location perfect for us as near train station and near supermarket. We also liked the fact that there was a reception desk when we arrived
What could be improved: Not very generous with the kitchen utensils and the toiletriesSuperb – Steve from Spain – 22 July 2025 (9/10)

Convenient place to stay near the center of Strasbourg – Angelo from Greece – 11 July 2025 (8/10)
Nice clean spacious apart/studios just a stone throw from the center of Strasbourg
What could be improved: For cleaning service they charge you extra only one free per week of stay. At least the towels could be changed every two daysWorth booking for AC alone! – Cameron from United Kingdom – 8 July 2025 (9/10)
AC WAS A GODSEND. Parking was good. Good location around 10 minutes from main part of city, and 5 minutes from a shopping centre. Close to highways as well. Kitchenette was useful. Room spacious.
What could be improved: Shower door broke and the shower head leaked water, wasn’t a big deal.Good AC – Elin from Sweden – 3 July 2025 (8/10)
Very good air conditioning!
Breakfast for 13€ was good, but not great.
What could be improved: The lift was out of order and we stayed on the 4th floor. They offered to help carrying the luggage, though (which would have been a bit weird accepting, since we are healthy and relatively young.)
The fridge was quite noisy. But it worked well.Very good – Ruth from United Kingdom – 2 July 2025 (8/10)
Could have had some fresh fruit options, not just the fruit salad bowl. And muesli.
What could be improved: The lift was broken.Very good – Sema from Turkey – 2 July 2025 (8/10)
Clean, safe, comfortable, not so far from the centre, helpful staff 👍
Basic stay, exceptional staff – Julia from Germany – 24 June 2025 (7/10)
The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly and they made the stay really lovely. The kitchen was pretty decent. The breakfast pastries were great
What could be improved: It’s pretty basic and tired, the room was a little bleak.Good value for your money. Safe and clean. – Carol from United States – 20 June 2025 (9/10)
Quiet room and clean on top floor. Super nice reception. Garage to lock up bicycle.
What could be improved: Area was a bit busy with lots of kids. Construction! But that’s not hotel fault.Superb – Ekaterina from Bulgaria – 13 June 2025 (9/10)
What could be improved: I prefer the garbage to be collected every day, especially in summer.
