Hotel Description
You know what caught me off guard about this place? The moment you step inside, you’re basically in someone’s beautifully renovated attic – and I mean that in the absolute best way possible. The Belles combles alsaciennes (which translates to “beautiful Alsatian attics,” by the way) sits right on Rue de Bouxwiller, and honestly, you couldn’t ask for a better spot to experience authentic Strasbourg without dealing with the tourist crush of Petite France.
The exposed wooden beams and slanted ceilings make every room feel like a cozy hideaway, though I’ll be honest – if you’re tall, watch your head in some spots. It’s that genuine Alsatian architecture that developers try to recreate but can never quite nail. What really sold me was how quiet it gets at night, despite being smack in the center of things. You’re literally a 10-minute walk from the cathedral (I timed it), but the street itself has this residential feel that means you’re not hearing drunk tourists stumbling around at 2 AM. The owners clearly put thought into the details – the linens actually feel expensive, there’s proper lighting for reading, and the little kitchenettes have everything you’d actually need, not just the bare minimum.
Here’s the thing about the location that booking sites don’t tell you: you’re positioned perfectly between the main tourist zone and where locals actually live and eat. Walk five minutes toward Place Kléber and you’re in full tourist mode, but head the other direction and you’ll find those tiny winstubs (traditional Alsatian restaurants) that serve incredible choucroute to mostly French speakers. The Bouxwiller street itself connects to some lovely walking routes if you’re into that, and honestly, parking isn’t the nightmare it is closer to the cathedral area – though I’d still recommend the tram if you’re day-tripping around the region. The 8.1 rating feels about right; it’s not luxury hotel perfect, but it’s got character and genuine charm that those sterile four-star chains completely lack. Plus, the check-in process was refreshingly straightforward – no upselling, no complicated key card systems, just friendly efficiency. If you want to feel like you’re staying in a real Strasbourg home rather than just visiting as a tourist, this is your spot.

Reviews
Very comfy, good location. Shame there were no curtains or blinds. – Elaine from United Kingdom – 21 July 2024 (8/10)
Spacious, clean, location, air conditioning, comfy beds.
What could be improved: No curtains or blinds at the windows. The washing machine had the last lot of linen in it and we had to take it out, air it and fold it before we could use the machine. This was the only place we stayed that required a security deposit. Only 2 wine glasses ( we were 3 ). The shower drained very slowly which we reported to the owner.Very good – Katharina from Germany – 27 April 2024 (8/10)
Pretty apartment, very clean, lots of space, kitchen has everything you need, nice living room, TV has Netflix.
What could be improved: – Apartment has no wardrobe or coat hooks, you have nowhere to hang your clothes.
– when we arrived at 5 pm (check-in started at 3 pm), there were still bedsheets washing in the washmashine. They were supposed to be dried there too, but in the end, they were still pretty damp, so that we had to hang them on the clothes dryer. I think when you arrive somewhere as a guest, you shouldn't be involved in the cleaning after the previous guests. It was just a short visit and we enjoyed the city, food, shopping, sightseeing, the architecture. – Sabine from United States – 11 April 2024 (8/10)
A charming apartment on the top (5th) floor, a newer construction/remodel, we loved the exposed structural beams of the old building, adding to the overall Strasbourg experience.
What could be improved: N/aWonderful apartment with in a good location ! – Fatima from Sweden – 1 April 2024 (9/10)
Wonderful place!
What could be improved: Taking up our luggage to the fourth floor without elevator and small stairs wasn’t easy but once you step into the apartment, it’s worth the trouble.Superb – Sunny from India – 1 July 2023 (9/10)
Very good apartment.Location is also great.Only difficulty to climb 4 floor without lift.
Spacious, comfy and bright apartment close to Strasbourg main station. – Mikkel from Denmark – 15 June 2023 (8/10)
Very spacious and bright, comfy beds and sofas, well-equipped kitchen. Close to the main train station. Walking distance (15 minutes) from the centre and the Cathedral.
What could be improved: The streets in the neighbourhood of the apartment were not super easy to navigate so it can be a bit confusing to find in the beginning. It's on the fourth floor with no lift (a luxury problem in my case, but if you've lots of heavy luggage just be prepared). No other issues, it was overall very nice and convenient.Wonderful – Giselle from Germany – 15 January 2023 (9/10)
Location was excellent. The apartment was spacious and warm. Easy to base yourself there and cook meals.
What could be improved: Nothing. Noting the stairs to properly are numerous (five levels) so may not be easy for people with mobility issues. Other than that no complaints at allSuperb – Prateek from Luxembourg – 4 November 2022 (9/10)
The location and the property were pretty good.
What could be improved: The housekeeper had room for improvement but still no complaints overallVery good – Maria from Germany – 9 July 2025 (8/10)
What could be improved: Right next to the rail way and
4th floor without elevator may not be easy for everybody with suitcases,
We took it as fitness excisise but should be knownComfortable good location good value for money – Lois from France – 26 September 2024 (8/10)
Comfortable spacious
What could be improved: Lack of curtains to block out light and lack of bedside lamps . There was some washing in the washing machine
