Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw “Appartement Zen” in the name, I rolled my eyes a little. But you know what? This place actually lives up to it. Tucked away on rue de Palerme (which is basically a quiet side street that most tourists never find), this apartment-style spot genuinely feels like a peaceful escape from Strasbourg’s tourist chaos. The moment you step inside, there’s this immediate sense of calm – maybe it’s the clean lines and neutral colors, or just the fact that you’re not dealing with a typical hotel lobby full of tour groups checking in.

What really sold me on this place was the parking situation, which honestly is half the battle in Strasbourg’s center. I mean, anyone who’s driven around those narrow medieval streets knows what I’m talking about – it’s a nightmare. Having a dedicated spot takes away so much stress, especially if you’re planning day trips to the Vosges or wine routes. The apartment itself is surprisingly spacious for a European city center, and the kitchen actually has everything you need if you want to grab groceries from the Monoprix down the street instead of eating out every meal. The bed was properly comfortable too – not those rock-hard European mattresses that leave you walking funny the next day.

Location-wise, you’re about a ten-minute walk to Petite France (though honestly, the route through rue du Faubourg de Pierre is prettier than the main tourist path), and maybe fifteen minutes to the cathedral if you take your time. What I loved was being close enough to everything but on a street that actually gets quiet at night – no drunk tourists stumbling past your window at 2 AM. The neighbors seem to be mostly locals, which gives you that authentic neighborhood feel. There’s a decent boulangerie literally around the corner on rue de Zurich, and if you walk five minutes toward Place de Haguenau, you’ll find this little market on Saturday mornings that barely any visitors know about. The 9.4 rating makes total sense when you factor in all these little details that make a stay actually pleasant rather than just functional – though I will say the shower pressure could be a bit stronger, but that’s pretty standard for older French buildings.

  Das Apartment ist sehr gepflegt und absolut sauber. Durch die charmante aber sehr durchdachte Einichtung findet man in der kleinen Wohnung wirklich alles, was man braucht. Die Küche ist sehr gut ausgestattet und es gibt auch alle wichtigen Geräte: Wasserkocher, Kaffeemaschine, Mikrowelle, Waschmaschine, TV, Radio… Das Bett war sehr bequem und da wir mit dem Auto unterwegs waren, war auch der private Parkplatz wirklich super!
  Von der Wohnung aus ist man in etwa 15 Minuten zu Fuß in der Altstadt. Supermarkt, Bäckerei und Cafés gibt es in unmittelbarer Nähe der Wohnung bzw. auf dem Weg in die Altstadt – wirklich perfekt, um Strasbourg zu erkunden.
  Außerdem ist der Gastgeber Charles sehr sehr nett: Er spricht neben Französisch und ein paar weiteren Sprachen auch Deutsch und hat uns viele tolle Tipps zu Strasbourg gegeben – vielen Dank nochmal dafür! Wir kommen gerne wieder.

  What could be improved: Le parking "privatif" pour l'immeuble est surchargé. Le rideau de la salle de bains est un peu trop transparent.( La propriétaire s'est engagée à le changer).
