Hotel Description

Look, I’ll be honest — when I first walked up to Appartement Strasbourg Cathédrale on Rue de la Division Leclerc, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the most memorable stays come from spots that don’t try too hard to impress you with fancy lobbies and over-the-top amenities.

The location is actually pretty brilliant if you know Strasbourg at all. You’re literally a couple minutes’ walk from the cathedral (hence the name, obviously), but here’s the thing most people don’t realize — you’re positioned perfectly to duck into the quieter streets when the tourist crowds get overwhelming around noon. I mean, sure, you’ll hear some street noise during the day since Division Leclerc gets decent foot traffic, but it dies down nicely in the evenings. The building itself has that solid, no-nonsense Alsatian feel — thick walls that actually keep sound out, unlike some of these converted historical places where you hear every conversation in the hallway.

What really got me was how the apartment setup just… works. It’s not trying to be a boutique hotel or some Instagram-worthy space, but everything you need is there and thoughtfully arranged. The kitchen actually has proper cookware (not those flimsy tourist apartment pans), which matters if you want to grab fresh stuff from the Saturday market at Place du Marché aux Poissons — that’s maybe a 7-minute walk, by the way. The bathroom’s compact but well-designed, and honestly, the shower pressure was better than half the 4-star places I’ve stayed at in France. Small details like that make a difference when you’re settling in for more than just a night or two.

Here’s what I really appreciate though — the whole experience feels authentic to Strasbourg rather than some generic hotel chain vibe. You’re staying in a real neighborhood where people actually live, so you end up discovering those little bakeries and wine bars that locals frequent instead of just bouncing between tourist traps. The 9.4 rating makes sense once you realize this place delivers exactly what it promises without any pretense. It’s clean, comfortable, well-located, and the kind of spot where you can actually relax instead of feeling like you need to be “on” all the time. Plus, parking in this part of Strasbourg can be a nightmare, but there are a few decent options within a block or two if you know where to look — something the local management can actually help you figure out, which is refreshing.

The location is excellent! The apartment was very clean (we met the elderly lady who cleaned the apartment and she was so nice and kind, and thorough!). The apartment was filled with xmas decoration (but not too crowded, and very tasteful). There was plenty of space for everything, and the host was very accommodating and clear in communications. it was a lovely experience!
