Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about this place? It’s actually tucked away on Rue Thiergarten in a way that feels properly Strasbourgeois – not flashy or trying too hard, just solid and welcoming. I mean, you’re literally a five-minute walk from the cathedral (and trust me, you’ll hear those bells, which is honestly pretty charming once you get used to it). The apartment itself has that lived-in European feel that’s way better than some cookie-cutter hotel room – think exposed beams, decent-sized windows that actually open, and a little kitchenette that’s surprisingly functional if you want to grab groceries from the Monoprix down the street.
The location is where this place really shines, honestly. You’re close enough to Petite France that you can wander over for those postcard canal shots without dealing with tour bus chaos, but far enough from the main tourist drag that you’re not hearing drunk groups stumbling back at 2 AM. I loved being able to walk to that little boulangerie on Rue des Bouchers for morning croissants – locals actually go there, which you’ll figure out pretty quickly when you’re the only one fumbling with Google Translate. The tram stops at Langstross-Grand’Rue are maybe seven minutes on foot, so getting around the city or out to the European Parliament area is dead simple. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle (welcome to any European city center), but there’s a public garage nearby that won’t completely destroy your budget.
What I appreciated most was how the place manages to feel both practical and atmospheric – the kind of spot where you can actually picture living for a week, not just crashing between sightseeing marathons. The host was responsive without being clingy, check-in was straightforward, and honestly, for a 3-star rating with an 8.4 score, your expectations should be pretty well calibrated. It’s clean, comfortable, and has character without any major quirks that’ll drive you crazy. The shower has decent pressure (always a gamble in older European buildings), and the wifi actually works reliably, which matters if you’re trying to figure out restaurant reservations or train schedules. Sure, you might hear your upstairs neighbors occasionally, and the morning light comes in pretty strong if you’re not used to it, but that’s just part of staying in the heart of a real neighborhood rather than some sterile hotel district. If you want to experience Strasbourg like someone who actually lives there – walking to the market, grabbing a beer at the corner café, navigating those gorgeous but narrow medieval streets – this is exactly the kind of base you want.

Reviews
Very nice for 4 people. – Giasemina from Greece – 28 December 2024 (9/10)
Great location, clean and quite spacious for 4 people! I would highly recommend it!
If you need a place close to train station, don't cook and don't mind walking up 4 floors… – Travel2005 from Hong Kong – 17 December 2024 (7/10)
The location is great, near the train station just a few minutes walk and around 10-15 min walk to the main attractions. A luggage store is available right around the corner. The contact was accessible via instant messages and helpful to resolve a minor issue promptly.
What could be improved: All in all there were no major or huge problems. Just that there were quite a lot of small / minor stuff which lacked detail attention or maintenance…e.g.
– There was a Nespresso machine but its tray was missing and no capsule provided.
– One of the kitchen cabinets door was simply gone (assume it was broken and not fixed)
– No paper tower (or disposal wiping cloth or similar) in kitchen
– Only table knives were provided and no cutting knife for food preparation which made cooking difficult
– Just plates, no bowls.
– One of the cooking pots was dented pretty badly and the coating was all worn off..
– Cushions were used instead of proper pillows.
– The mattress was two inches shorter than the bed frame.
Besides, the apartment is located on the 4th floor and by stairs only. They also do not provide luggage store upon check out.
Note that they do not charge a cleaning fee by default and therefore would expect the guests to leave the apartment in "reasonably state" which is perfectly fair. But they may consider putting it in the house rule, just to be obvious.
It was peak season when we stayed and understood that everywhere was equally expensive. But the overall value for money was pretty low in this case.Passable – Neha from India – 11 November 2024 (5/10)
Abience was good 👍
But there was no bath soap in the bathroom & also there was no knife in the kitchen so found difficult to cut veggies and cook. – Ylva from Sweden – 9 July 2025 (9/10)
Rekommenderar starkt!
What could be improved: Finns ingen hiss i byggnadenアルザスで暮らす旅 – Takahashi from Japan – 11 June 2025 (9/10)
What could be improved: 設備にいくつか問題はありました(床に水漏れあり、洗濯機の洗剤入れが詰まっていた)Good – Mario from Italy – 4 May 2025 (7/10)
– Béatrice from France – 9 October 2024 (9/10)
What could be improved: Llegue de madrugada y me encontré 2 ventanas abiertas y la calefacción apagada.
Very good – Carlos from Mexico – 26 October 2024 (8/10)
What could be improved: Llegamos una hora después del check in.
