When I first pulled up to Stras’ home on Route d’Oberhausbergen, I’ll be honest — I wasn’t expecting much from what looked like a residential street. But you know what? Sometimes the best places are the ones that don’t scream for attention. This four-star property sits quietly in a neighborhood that feels authentically local, about 15 minutes from Strasbourg‘s historic center. The free parking right on-site was actually a relief — anyone who’s tried to navigate Strasbourg’s old town with a car knows what I mean.

The Neighborhood Feel

What struck me about this area is how it gives you that genuine Alsatian residential experience without feeling isolated. You’re close enough to hop into the city center whenever you want, but far enough out to escape the tourist crowds that can overwhelm Petite France during peak season. I mean, there’s something refreshing about staying where actual locals live — you’ll see people walking their dogs, kids heading to school, that sort of everyday life that makes a place feel real. The neighborhood truly captures the essence of authentic regional living.

The Space Itself

The room I stayed in had this comfortable, homey quality that matched the property’s name perfectly. It’s not trying to be some grand hotel — instead, it feels like staying at a well-appointed friend’s place. The setup is practical without being boring, and honestly, after a day of wandering Strasbourg’s cobblestone streets, you just want somewhere comfortable to decompress. The attention to detail shows in small ways — good lighting, thoughtful storage, the kind of touches that make you realize someone actually cares about the guest experience. Every element has been thoughtfully considered.

Getting Around

Here’s where the location really works in your favor. While you’re technically outside the city center, the tram connections are solid, and having that private parking means you can easily explore the wider Alsace region — the wine route, Colmar, even pop over to Germany if you’re feeling adventurous. I actually preferred this setup to being right in the thick of things because you get the best of both worlds: easy access to Strasbourg’s attractions during the day, then a peaceful retreat at night. The accessibility is genuinely impressive.

Why Guests Love It

That 9.4 rating makes perfect sense once you’ve stayed here. It’s the kind of place that gets the fundamentals right — clean, comfortable, well-located, with hosts who clearly know what they’re doing. Couples seem to particularly appreciate the quieter setting and the fact that you can actually have a conversation without competing with street noise or other guests. The whole experience feels more personal than your typical hotel stay, which I think is exactly what Stras’ home is going for — and honestly, they nail it. This property represents genuine hospitality at its finest.

  8kişi kaldığımız evde herşey harikaydı. Temizlik ve olanaklar yeterliydi. Evin konumu sakin ve merkeze yakındı.
  
  What could be improved: Çiftkişilik yatağın olduğu odanın penceresi tam kapanmıyordu sorunluydu ve yatak biraz rahatsızdı. Nevresimler pamuklu olsaydı daha mutlu olurduk. Çok küçük çocuğu olanlar için ev 3 katlı merdivenler biraz huzursuzluk yaratabilir.

  Everything was perfect! A very comfortable accommodation (for big families too). The kitchen was well-equipped. Big rooms and spaces. It was clean and spotless.
  
  What could be improved: It was a bit unfortunate we stayed in Stras' home during a heatwave 😅. It became very hot during the night since there was no air-conditioning. A few ventilators would have made it more bearable. Except for this, everything else was perfect!

  The appartment is really more like a house on three floors with a very large living room, four bedrooms, two toilettes, two TVs, plus a garage. The place is nicely decorated and clean. The owners are very pleasant and accommodating.

  The apartment is very spacious and comfortable, equipped with everything you need. Very comfortable beds. The coffee machine with good coffee was a great bonus! Thank you! For a large family or a group of friends this is the place to be!
