Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about the voco Strasbourg Centre? The name actually makes sense – this place really does feel like a garden tucked into the city center. I mean, you’re literally on Rue des Magasins, which puts you right in the thick of things, but somehow they’ve managed to create this green oasis that doesn’t feel overwhelmed by all the urban buzz around it.

The location is honestly perfect if you want to explore Strasbourg properly. You can walk to the cathedral in about ten minutes (and trust me, you’ll want to – especially when those bells ring at sunset), and the Petite France district is close enough that you’ll find yourself wandering over there multiple times. What I really appreciated was being able to duck back to the hotel between sightseeing sessions without it being a whole production. The tram stops are nearby too, which is clutch if you’re planning day trips or your feet give out after walking all those cobblestones.

The hotel itself has this interesting vibe – it’s definitely modern and polished (you can tell IHG knows what they’re doing), but there’s something more personal about it than your typical chain property. The garden concept isn’t just marketing fluff either; there are actually green spaces woven throughout the design that make the whole place feel more breathable. The rooms are well thought out – good lighting for actually reading, proper outlets where you need them, and the beds are legitimately comfortable, not just hotel-marketing comfortable. I slept better than I expected to, and honestly, city center hotels can be hit or miss with noise levels. This one gets it right.

The staff genuinely seemed to know Strasbourg, which makes a difference when you’re trying to figure out where to eat or whether that museum is worth the walk. They steered me toward this little winstub that wasn’t in any of my guidebooks but ended up being one of my favorite meals of the trip. The breakfast situation is solid too – not groundbreaking, but they clearly put effort into sourcing local stuff, and there’s enough variety that you won’t get bored if you’re staying multiple nights.

What really won me over was how the hotel balances being in the center of everything without feeling frantic. Strasbourg can get pretty touristy, especially during Christmas market season (which, fair warning, is absolutely bonkers busy but also magical), and having a place that feels like a proper retreat makes all the difference. The common areas have this relaxed energy where you can actually sit and plan your next day without feeling like you’re in everyone’s way.

Look, it’s not the cheapest option in Strasbourg, but for a 4-star property in this location with this level of attention to detail, the value makes sense. If you’re the type of traveler who appreciates thoughtful design and wants to be able to walk everywhere important, this place delivers. Just book early if you’re coming during any of the major festivals – Strasbourg knows how to throw a party, and good hotels fill up fast.

  • Prima – Myrthe from Netherlands – 22 July 2025 (7/10)

    The clean rooms

What could be improved: The cleaner was not happy that i was still at 11 am in my room but the checkout time was at 12. She looks up to me and said something in france and then she did a disgusting face and watching at me and then at her clock and then up to me and then back to the clock. It made me feel very uncomfortable

  • Overall really nice hotel inside what seems to be a regular recidence area. The Spa was great for the entire family. – Greger from Sweden – 20 July 2025 (7/10)

What could be improved: You need to prebook parking if you want to be sure to have a spot. There’s additional street parking in the surroundings. Worked too but a bot of a hassle to find a spot at night. Street parking is free until 9 am.
