You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Villa Exclusive on Rue de la Scierie – honestly, the street name alone had me curious (it means “sawmill” in French, which sounds way more industrial than it actually is). But this little 4-star gem completely caught me off guard. The building itself has this understated elegance that feels authentically Strasbourg, not like those cookie-cutter chain hotels you see everywhere. When you walk in, there’s this immediate sense that someone actually cared about the details here. The lobby smells faintly of lavender and has these gorgeous wooden accents that remind you you’re in Alsace, where craftsmanship still means something.

What really sold me on this place, though, is how perfectly positioned it is without feeling touristy. You’re maybe a 10-minute walk to Petite France – and I mean a leisurely stroll, not a rushed march – but you’re tucked away enough that you don’t hear tour groups chattering outside your window at 7 AM. The staff actually knows the neighborhood, too. When I asked about good spots for dinner, the guy at the front desk didn’t just hand me a generic brochure; he told me about this tiny winstub around the corner that locals frequent, and honestly, it ended up being one of my best meals in the city. The rooms themselves are what you’d hope for but rarely get – clean lines, comfortable beds that don’t feel like sleeping on cardboard, and bathrooms where everything actually works. I particularly loved the little touches, like how they leave the windows slightly cracked when they clean the rooms, so you come back to fresh air instead of that stuffy hotel smell.

Here’s the thing about Villa Exclusive that really impressed me: it feels like staying at a well-run boutique property without the pretentious attitude. Check-in was smooth (they had my reservation ready and didn’t try to upsell me on anything), parking is available right there – which, if you’ve ever tried to park in central Strasbourg, you know is basically a minor miracle. The 9.4 rating makes total sense once you’ve stayed there; it’s not flashy or over-the-top, but everything just works the way it should. Whether you’re here for business or wandering around the cathedral and Christmas markets, this place gives you a proper home base without breaking the bank. Plus, and this might sound weird, but the Wi-Fi actually works throughout the building – I know that should be standard in 2024, but you’d be surprised how many places still can’t get that right.

  Huge space with all the necessities and comfortable beds. Very clean accommodation and modern.
  
  What could be improved: Our vehicle was stuck outside the garage as there’s a slope and uneven road just outside the garage, our car was 1.9m and the garage entrance was too short. Our car tilted to one side and end up had to tow the car out. Luckily property owner called for the tow truck for us but we had to pay a total of 400€ for it and not claimable by the insurance.

  It was close to the centre and in a decent neighbourhood. Transportation from the airport was quite easy by metro. The landlord is very interested. He answered every question immediately. And he was very polite. It is a great ideal pleasant house for those staying with groups. The coffee machine was very good. When I go to Strasbourg, it will be the first house I will look at.
