Hotel Description
Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places around Strasbourg’s cathedral district, but this suite on Rue du Fossé des Tailleurs actually surprised me. The name’s a mouthful – Suite privative 43m2 – Les tailleurs à 120m de la cathedrale – but honestly, that’s about as French as it gets, and the 120 meters part isn’t marketing fluff. You literally walk out the door at number 10, hang a right, and boom, there’s that massive Gothic spire looming over you. I mean, I timed it once just to be sure, and it’s maybe a two-minute stroll through those narrow cobblestone streets that tourists love to photograph.
What really got me was the space itself – 43 square meters sounds modest on paper, but whoever designed this place knew what they were doing. The ceilings are higher than you’d expect in this old quarter, and there’s this smart layout that makes everything feel open without being echoing and cold. You know what I appreciated? The windows actually open properly (not those tiny European tilts that barely let air through), and since you’re tucked back from the main tourist drag on Rue Mercière, it’s surprisingly quiet at night. Well, quiet except for the cathedral bells, but honestly, after the first morning you sort of start looking forward to them. The bathroom’s properly modern too – none of that cramped shower situation you sometimes get in these historic buildings. They’ve managed to blend the old character with stuff that actually works, which isn’t always easy in Strasbourg’s old town.
The thing about this area that most people don’t realize is how perfectly positioned you are for both the touristy stuff and the real Strasbourg. Sure, you can hit the cathedral and Maison Kammerzell in minutes, but you’re also close enough to duck into those little winstubs on Rue des Tonneliers where locals actually eat, or grab morning pastries from the boulangerie on Rue des Frères without fighting crowds. Parking’s always a nightmare around here – I’d honestly just use the tram from Homme de Fer if you’re driving in – but once you’re settled, everything’s walkable. The 9.6 rating makes sense when you factor in that it feels more like borrowing a well-appointed local apartment than staying in some generic hotel room. It’s got that lived-in comfort without being messy, if that makes sense. The only thing I’d mention is that these old streets can get pretty lively during summer evenings when the restaurant terraces fill up, but most people seem to love that authentic Alsatian atmosphere anyway.

Central to so many tourists spots and restaurants.
Great little apartment. Alexandre was very helpful with all of our needs.
What could be improved: A bit noisy from the outside atmosphere but closing the windows helped a lot.Superb – Guido from United Kingdom – 19 May 2025 (9/10)
A beautiful and beautifully presented flat, never more that 10 mins walk from the entire old city. I loved the stunning location, the brightness of the flat, the automated key collection and the overall comfort
What could be improved: The code to get the key was very long and hard to remember and I wish that there had been a few more cooking utensils in the kitchen.Modern appointed apartment in the heart of the historic district – Bradley from United States – 10 May 2025 (10/10)
Everything! It is modern apartment in the old city area which is beautiful. The communication was great including the best directions and guides we have ever received.
What could be improved: This is so minor, but a larger knife for food prep, there are “steak” knives which worked well enough, but would like a bigger to cut vegetablesA fantastic apartment in a superb location – Louise from France – 17 April 2025 (10/10)
We spent 4 nights in this wonderful apartment, it was located just next to the cathedral, perfect for the shops, restaurants and sightseeing. The apartment was really well equipped and very clean, everything was perfect. Alexandre was really helpful and everything was very organised and well explained. I will definitely come back and stay again. I highly recommend this apartment.
Exceptional – Burak from Turkey – 16 February 2025 (10/10)
Aleksandre was a great host and his cozy, spotlessly clean and comfortable home was right in the center of everything. We could easily reach everywhere on foot or by tram. Staying right next to the Notre Dame, important museums and in the middle of the historic square was like a dream. The elevator, close proximity to very good pastiries and supermarkets were also plus. We would certainly want to be back and highly recommend!
